  • Real Influence: Persuade Without Pushing and Gain Without Giving In

People won't put up with being "sold" anymore. If they sense they are being pushed, their guard goes up - and even if they do comply, lingering resentment undermines the relationship...maybe forever. Yet, most books on influence still portray it as something you "do to" someone else to get your way. That out-of-date approach invites resistance or cynicism from those who recognize the techniques. Manipulative tactics might occasionally wear down a colleague's or client's resistance, but they fail to produce the mutual trust that sustains successful relationships.

The examples were excellent and the content was a new spin on the old yarn that you get two ears and one mouth so you should use them in proportion.

In late October 1846, the last wagon train of that year's westward migration stopped overnight before resuming its arduous climb over the Sierra Nevada Mountains, unaware that a fearsome storm was gathering force. After months of grueling travel, the 81 men, women and children would be trapped for a brutal winter with little food and only primitive shelter. The conclusion is known: by spring of the next year, the Donner Party was synonymous with the most harrowing extremes of human survival.

Would you listen to Desperate Passage again? Why?

Yes. I have read about the Donner party in other books but this one showed the true tragedy in what they went through to get to the Sierras and then what they went through just to survive. A riveting read filled with star crossed timing issues and just overall bad luck yet the will to survive in a place that was barely survivable.

Before he was considered a CIA superagent, before he was thought of as a terrorists worst nightmare, and before he was both loathed and admired by the politicians on Capitol Hill, Mitch Rapp was a gifted college athlete without a care in the world . . . and then tragedy struck.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

the ending left a bit to be desired. We are going 100 MPH and then epilog but other than that this was a great read with a lot of interesting humor thrown into a really good spy novel.
