Weber has grown complacent that his books in the Honorverse will sell simply because the previous ones have done so. I purchased this book expecting a full story, like On Basilisk Station, and instead got a teaser with no plot arc whatsoever.
This novel is a jumbled mishmash of words with poor pacing, lack of finality, and two-dimensional characters shoved into the limelight. For an Honor Harrington novel, it manages to actually have her in it for all of probably 20-30 pages.
Don't waste your money or download credits on this book.
Yes. I will not be getting the next Weber book.
No. It would have no ending.
This novel tends to wind and skip around randomly between settings, failing to tie together plot points as well as previous books of the series.
Sometimes the narrator's accents in this book get down right painful. I would have preferred her to just read the book with some variation of vocal pitch than have so many bad accents.
