Maya's Grandmother . Strong and quiet but carries a big stick.

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

It caught and held my attention via pure storyline.
Never really liking any character as the story unfolds, but able to picture them.

What other book might you compare Gone Girl to and why?

    The Help.
Different characters, different points of view.

Which character – as performed by Julia Whelan and Kirby Heyborne – was your favorite?

Neither and both. They did equally well.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was disappointed when it ended.

    Any additional comments?

The Fatal Attraction of this generation.

Finbar Dolan is lost and lonely. Except he doesn’t know it. Despite escaping his blue-collar Boston upbringing to carve out a mildly successful career at a Madison Avenue ad agency, he’s a bit of a mess and closing in on 40. He’s recently called off a wedding. Now, a few days before Christmas, he’s forced to cancel a long-postponed vacation in order to write, produce, and edit a Superbowl commercial for his diaper account in record time. Fortunately, it gets worse....

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Maybe if Fin's dysfunctional family life was portrayed before the reader is dragged through his career/job. A job where relationships are the actual job itself.

What was most disappointing about John Kenney’s story?

It wanted to finish but could not.

Would you be willing to try another one of Robert Petkoff’s performances?

    yes

What character would you cut from Truth in Advertising?

    Fin

    Any additional comments?

I don't have to like the main character when I read a book.
This main character just wasn't worth reading about because too many narcissistic self indulging people already exist.

The first book of Day by Day Armageddon took us deep into the mind of a military officer and survivor as he made a New Year's resolution to start keeping a journal. The man kept his resolution and brought to us the fall of humanity, day by day. We see the man transition from the life that you and I live to the prospect of fighting for his very survival against the overwhelming hordes of the dead. We see him bleed, we see him make mistakes, we witness him evolve.

If you could sum up Day by Day Armageddon: Beyond Exile in three words, what would they be?

    No adderall needed.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Day by Day Armageddon: Beyond Exile?

When rescuing the family off a roof or getting out of a crashed plane this guy cannot die.
I think he's really the zombie.

What three words best describe Jay Snyder’s performance?

Good voice. The way the story is written, it claims the obvious in some circumstances but good. I couldn't do it as my voice sounds like rudolph on the christmas specials.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

If I was in a car ...yes
