The Queen lyrics, “We are the champions, no time for losers because we are the champions” came to mind after I first read this book about six years ago. And I’ve been reading Quinn’s books from then on. Daniel Quinn has a way with words that gets his message across in such a way that anyone can understand. The message of Ishmael is philosophical and maybe the most important idea a single person has ever managed to put into such a clever fiction work.
The reading on this audio recording is pretty impressive too, although I’m not a big fan of audio books myself, I only decided to get this version so I could share Quinn’s message with friends who don’t like to read.
Julia has a great conversation voice and is easy to understand. The subject of "letting go of God" is of much importance in our current world plight. She doesn't push her atheist ideas in your face- if you're just starting on your path in looking for others opinions on religion and God or gods this is one of the best ways to start- with a good laugh at something too many hold too dear.
