I loved the family members, and how Anne touched them and brought love into their lives.
Just a strong feeling of missing Anne when it was all over. I wish there could be a continuation, following Anne into her college years and married life! I aspire to be as honest, loving and frank as Anne of Green Gables, she's a pure, innocent soul and I loved being exposed to her, even if it is fiction! :-)
An interesting idea.
The most memorable moments are the ones I have had after reading the book, thinking back on the ideas, contemplating it, digesting it.
I love guided meditations and hypnosis recordings, so I have tried several. I wasn't sure about Hypnosis Live because there's no name behind who is writing the sessions (as opposed to sessions by Darren Marks or Craig Beck). I was pleasantly surprised to find this to be a very good bundle---the ideas and philosophies of Hypnosis Live are very good, and I find their techniques to be very powerful. In the first part of this bundle, the 'Perfect Body' hypnosis, something was said that has changed my life: 'what is the difference between what you do easily, and what is hard for you to do?' They explain it in this bundle, and it's brilliant. I recommend the whole thing just for that, but the entire session is very helpful. I have only done the 'Perfect Body' so far because I love it so much, each time I sit down to turn it on, I want to do that one. I'll get to the others, and I am currently looking for others by the same people.
Very well written, from beginning to end. I like the progression of anecdotes both from history and Jon Ronson's life. I like Jon Ronson. I loved his reading of the book.
This book has shaken my whole philosophy of life to the core. Becoming acquainted with Psychopaths and some of their history was enlightening in that it showed me an aspect of people that I had never considered. I believe in the goodness in all people, but what about those who are wired differently? And what is the reason for this? I'm a spiritual person, and I cannot yet come to terms with what this disconnect is in a psychopath's soul, and what that means.
Quick read and extremely interesting, a subject I had never before considered but that, once read, makes so much sense. It's also quite a 'new' subject, if I'm not mistaken. I haven't been able to find a follow up book that sounds good to me, yet, but I'm sure one will come. Recommended.
This book is a summary of all the pranks this man did on people to make them follow him. He was using elaborate tricks to con people all the way through. I heard more about the cons and how they were successful. What I was hoping to hear about what made people follow this man, but it isn't so interesting once I realize he used blatant trickery, intimidation and violence. That's why people followed him. I would have prefered to hear why people followed him while knowing the truth about everything, but this focuses on the people who were duped 100%. Disappointing and I didn't learn a thing. I only finished the first half.
I've purchased it for at least six different people. I read this book at the perfect time this year: this book prepared me for so much that came after I finished listening. Haidt's theories seem so well researched, and he has presented them with such care, in such a beautiful order. I love his breakdown of Love and think anyone in any sort of relationship or with aspirations to be in one should read it. And the way he's broken down meditation has given me a reference that has helped me through the much deeper study that I have gone on to after this book. Thank you, Jonathon Haidt.
The elephant and the rider. Brilliant. So true. And the chapter on love. Those stand out most, but I feel like I was bookmarking something in every chapter.
Actually, it didn't. I like books that give me "hmmmmm" moments, and I didn't get many from this book. Mostly I just found it sad. I did listen to the whole thing, though, which I only do if I am enjoying the book again, but I was happy it ended. I had thought I would like it better. Loved the movie!
I have and will continue to do. I loved this book. Magical and fastastical, I was completely transported and want more, more, more! I finished this book months ago and still think fondly back to the days when I had this magical story in my life!
None that I had read, but I would love to find one.
Fast-paced, food for thought, fun.
It's hard to say without giving away story points, but I like how Scalzi puts so much into his books that seem like just ordinary fun story-lines, but they are so much more than that: he presents very real issues, very worrisome trends in human culture and politics. I always find myself thinking about things more than I expect to after I finish a Scalzi novel.
Wil Wheaton is great, I like all his characters.
Fun, funny, pleasant.
An enjoyable, wholesome, familiar tale that is so much funnier than I ever had expected.
