This book was not at all what is was portrayed to be about. This was more about the problems of alcoholism than a murder mystery.
This book was an unexpected treat! The story line was well-crafted with lots of twists and turns. The characters were so real; a sign of great writing. The performances were spot-on and added to the terrific experience. I hope they make this into a movie.
This book provided many plot twists and an interesting look at a recuperating from a serious medical problem in the 1800's.Well-developed characters.
I loved the first Highlands' Lairds book in which the characters were well developed and the storyline was excellent. I hoped this one would be as good...the characters were pretty good, but the story was jumbled and unnecessarily disjointed.
This is the first book in the series, and the main character was amazingly complex and multi-layered. The story was full of twists and turns. It kept me interested enough to read the entire series. Note: Read them in order or you won't know what's going on.
I stumbled upon this book, and was so happily surprised! I told my book club about it, and several had read this one (or one of the series) years ago. It was smart, funny, and engaging.
This book sounded very interesting, but it wasn't. It was a formulaic romance book. Bummer.
By now, I was hooked on the series. However, this main character was changed/misrepresented in earlier books in the series. The characters were engaging, but when the story line is carried from book to book, the characters need to be the thread of commonality.
This series was great. This main character was very interesting and complex. Well written and fast paced
Read the series in order.
