For over 40 years, Carlos Castaneda’s The Teachings of Don Juan has inspired audiences to expand their world view beyond traditional Western forms. Originally published as Castaneda’s master’s thesis in anthropology, Teachings documents Castaneda’s supposed apprenticeship with a Yaqui Indian sorcerer, don Juan Matus. Dividing the work into two sections, Castaneda begins by describing don Juan’s philosophies, then continues with his own reflections.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Crazy people who like hallucinogenic drugs!

What was most disappointing about Carlos Castaneda’s story?

I kept waiting for something to happen or to get some kind of understanding from this book, but it just kept going on an on about these hallucinogenic trips. It was actually very dull & pointless. Of all the books that I've ordered, this was the only one that I couldn't bear to finish!

Graham Greene’s evocative analysis of the love of self, the love of another, and the love of God is an English classic that has been translated for the stage, the screen, and even the opera house. Academy Award-winning actor Colin Firth (The King’s Speech, A Single Man) turns in an authentic and stirring performance for this distinguished audio release.

The story was dreadful and boring! It's about a guy who is obsessed with a woman that he had an affair with. All is does is wine & complain about this woman & her husband! It is terribly depressing and very negative! I simply couldn't bring myself to finish it!

  • Swallow The Happy Pill: Secrets To True Happiness

"I just want to be happy," a simple goal expressed as though it were the very least we could expect of life. Some phrase it differently, and some attach requirement or specifics to the statement by pre-deciding how happiness must be packaged. Nonetheless it sounds so reasonable an expectation and yet for some reason so many people spend an entire lifetime unable to reach or even discover the first step on the path to this universal desire. Many believe that this illusive state would be possible if they could only win the lottery, inherit great wealth....

Would you consider the audio edition of Swallow The Happy Pill to be better than the print version?

Craig Beck is good at narrating his own books with his British accent and enthusiasm, that you can not help but love listening to him!

What other book might you compare Swallow The Happy Pill to and why?

I've listened to a lot of Craig Beck's books such as "Alcohol Lied to Me", "The God Enigma"and "The Hynotic Salesman", and they all carry very spiritual messages about life, God and happiness! Craig has a way with words and he really gets me thinking! The general message that he conveys in all four of these books is that happiness resides within and that we all have the answers right here and now!

What about Craig Beck’s performance did you like?

I think that Craig just has natural enthusiasm and excitement for his ideas on life, and this is reflected in his performance.

    Any additional comments?

I do love Craig Beck's books on audible and listen to them over & over again with my friends. His books spark some interesting debate! I have also referenced Craig at my meetings and have got quite a few laughs! I don't always agree with him, but he always make me think!

But amid the sun-drenched cornfields, their loyalty will be pitilessly tested.

What disappointed you about Summer of Night?

I thought that the plot was going to be based on reality, but it is full of unbelievable superstition. The story line is slow moving and definitely not very thrilling. I was disappointed since the book was portrayed as a thriller from its description.

    Any additional comments?

Very disappointed and felt like I was mislead by the description of this book!
