Less of the word "said" and actually having a story line.
Interesting opening - downhill from there
The two bumbling idiots that basically were pointless in the first two hours of listening.
I am trying new authors and was disappointed with this selection. The lack of purpose of the story was hard to get past. This story just rambled in no direction at all. If you wait it out, good luck - I couldn't.
There is an air of expectancy all through the story. Cassandra Campbell's narration draws you in with her softness and easy flow. This is a quiet story, yet you don't want to stop listening because you have been drawn into each character's life. Some say they figured it out before the end, but you are giving just enough to think "maybe not". You realize that as you walk through your day you are intersecting with a drama all your own. This is one of those rare stories where you become attached to the characters and you know you will miss them tomorrow.
The narration is great. The personality of each character is clearly detailed, which makes this such an enjoyable book.
Full of fun and intrigue. You just never know what is around the corner with Miss Julia leading the way.
Traveling along and then you are taken off the main road and you can't figure out why you are on this road and where is it going. This turn kept me wanting to know what was really happening.
Not an edge of your seat story, but definitely has a plot that keeps your interest and draws you back.
J. D. Jackson's performance was great. This was the first time I have listened to one of his performances and found him easy to listen to and enjoyable.
Did not see the end coming.
As I listened to this book, I was amazed at how it mirrored today's news. Uncanny. I remember listening to Glenn Beck last summer stating that he was not going to release the book until the time was right. Well the time was definitely right. Took me a little time to get oriented back into the characters from the Overton Window, but once I was in sync, it was fast paced and, as always, an eye opener.
The last book left us hanging and I was a little concerned that Michael Bennett was truly gone. But here he is finishing up the saga of Perrine. More gore than I like - can people be this barbaric? Some tense moments, but Michael keeps his charm. Enjoyed and glad we were not left hanging until the next book is published.
Goodness, all the ladies had something going on in this one. Enjoyed each one and a little surprised by some of the outcomes. Looking forward to the next one.
Enjoyed the roller coaster of "who did it", you think you have it figured out and then a new twist appears. I struggled with trying to keep the characters separated, but this was due to not being familiar with German names. I would have to pause to think, "okay, which character is this". Was a slow start, but the story picked up speed and then I wanted to keep listening so I could find out the newest twist. Robert Fass was a great narrator and did well with keeping the characters separated. I found him very easy to listen to, he transitioned from one character to the other seamlessly.
Terri Blackstock is one of my favorite authors and this book did not disappoint. Not her normal "suspense" story, but a wonderful story all the same.
No plot, no story line.
Plot would be nice.
I am trying different genres since I joined Audible and have had success with some books and others are a total waste of time. This would be one of those times. I really do try. I listen well into the book - hoping for it to get better. Never happened with this one. Try as I might, I could not figure out the story line or plot. You are introduced to different sets of characters and they may intersect along the way, but unless they all pile up in the last chapter with a conclusion, the characters were never given enough effort. If you like rambling characters, you will like this book. If you prefer a plot, buy a different book.
This was my first Private book and I enjoyed the characters and the plots. This takes me out of the police department world of Michael Bennett and the Women's Murder Club and into the private detective world. Enjoyed and will be following this series as well.
