A mysterious incident in Russia, a blip buried in the news - it’s the only warning humanity receives that civilization will soon be destroyed by a single, voracious virus that creates monsters of men. A lawyer, still grieving over the death of his young wife, begins to write as a form of therapy. But he never expected that his anonymous blog and journal would ultimately record humanity’s last days. Governments scramble to stop the zombie virus, people panic, so-called Safe Havens are established, the world erupts into chaos; soon it’s every man, woman, and child for themselves.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

No, I will probably finish it eventually, but stopped about halfway through.

What was most disappointing about Manel Loureiro’s story?

The main character seems to flounder around throughout the whole story. He never seems to have much of a plan and just runs around. He reminded me of the girl who knows there's a serial killer in the area who hears a noise in the attic or basement and immediately goes alone to check it out. I kind of wanted him to get caught just because of the stupidity of his choices.

Which character – as performed by Nick Podehl – was your favorite?

    The Russian ship captain.

Was The Beginning of the End worth the listening time?

    Any additional comments?

I did think the narrator did a good job.

  • Tangle of Need: Psy-Changeling Series, Book 11

    • UNABRIDGED (15 hrs and 40 mins)
    • By Nalini Singh
    • Narrated By Angela Dawe
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Adria, wolf changeling and resilient soldier, has made a break with the past-one as unpredictable in love as it was in war. Now comes a new territory, and a devastating new complication: Riaz, a SnowDancer lieutenant already sworn to a desperate woman who belongs to another. For Riaz, the primal attraction he feels for Adria is a staggering betrayal. For Adria, his dangerous lone wolf appeal is beyond sexual. It consumes her. It terrifies her. It threatens to undermine everything she has built of her new life.

    "Love the series."
Where does Tangle of Need rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I love this series, but this is the first one I've listened to instead of reading.I didn't feel this was the best book in the series, but the story was good and advanced the main story line. I was really distracted from the story by the narration. I didn't like the narrator at all.

What other book might you compare Tangle of Need to and why?

Any of the other Nalini Singh Psy-Changeling books.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

her voice was just kind of whiny and had this weird accent that just made it sound like narrating the story was exhausting her.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When they first arrived in Venice.

    Any additional comments?

I love this series but really disliked the narration.
