Although I like the LOTU series better, this series is good too. Another tortured soul in need of some loving. I laughed and I cried, I only wished it had better sex scenes but was moved by what Koldo has learns and what he is willing to sacrifice for his woman. I enjoyed watching Nicola learn to be strong and let go of the darkness in her life. Max Bellmore does it again. He has a rich sexy voice that is very easy on the ears. If you like Gena Showalter I recommend reading Sherrilyn Kenyon Dark Hunter series and Thea Harrison Elder series.
After the initial action scene the plot has a slow buildup. Then the action begins with a vengeance. The humor that was in MHI was not in this book, occasionally there is a hint of humor but overall this part was a disappointment to me. Both characters aren't likeable at first, defiantly no Owen or Jake, but they do grow on you. So if you are expecting it to be as good as MHI or HM plan to be disappointed. Now if you like military thrillers you will probably like this book. It has taken me awhile to finish this book, because it did not pull me in at first, I eventually finished it and overall I liked it (3.5 stars) and I will get the next book, but I might wait for a sale. Narrator is good, he does a lot of different voices.
I liked it but I didn't get overly excited about it. I have always liked myths and lore's of all cultures, and while this one was loose with the details it was fun to see how it was interweaved into the story. The characters went through the motions but I didn't really get a good sense of who they were. You have to suspend belief at how the characters reacted to events and the whole wife to a God was a little weird how that played out. The transition from ancient Egypt to modern day for the heroine was way too easy. The writing was a bit choppy, but from what I understand this book came out as a serial on Amazon. I picked this up using the Whispersync for about 3.98. Narrators were both good, Phil Gigante has a very sexy voice and he makes it worth listening.
As much as I liked this book, it also irritated me. This book is fun, brassy and full of sexual tension. There are tons of one liners in this book, so much to the point it was almost over the top. The author tried to make the heroine come off as worldly, but yet be so clueless to obvious detail that it had me rolling my eyes in disbelief. I didn't like how the story jumped from one place to the next without explanation, that it seemed like the audio skipped. Also some of the direction of the plot was not enjoyable for me, such as the way there lives turned out from lies and from the jealousy during parts. The story does end up coming full circle for a happy ever after, which made me happy. I hated that it never explained why Xavier's mother keep things from him. Altogether this was a fast past romance with lots of action. I would probably read more books by this author. Narrator was good.
I read the free prequel novella about a year ago and I was not overly impressed. I had already purchases this book so after I forgot what was in the novella (it was that good), I went ahead and listened to this book only because I hate to waste money. I could not connect with the book. I had more questions and the characters were only paper cut outs. I felt like they went through the motions but I had no sense of who they were, where they were or what the differences were between the cast. I kept catching my mind wondering and then I would think I missed something, but no, nothing was ever explained. There were a few ideas that could have panned out but since I felt the same with the novella I decided not to finish this book. I have finished books that were worse, I just didn't want to waste my time on something I had mediocre feeling towards when I have over 200 audio books in my library that I haven't read yet. Narrator did an okay job, she just can't make up for inadequate writing.
Another adventure into the land of the Electriclan and Elgen. I enjoyed this story and for the most part it flew by. The only part I felt was a little on the long side was when the story was from Dr. Hatch's point of view. I think Dr. Hatch's megalomaniac part should have been shortened some, this caused me to only give the book 4 stars. It's fascinating to see what different powers the kids have and how they grow, there was also great character development. Story does leave at a cliff hanger, but I plan on reading more anyway. Narrator is excellent as usual, I have always enjoyed Fred Berman.
I will admit that there have been books in this series that are a hit or miss for me. I loved Z, John Matthew, and Quinn's books. I didn't like Fury, Torment, or V's book. Yes, I know I didn't spell them right, hell I have problems with regular words no less names with funky spellings. As for this whole series it is tear jerker city and this one is up there along with the rest.
As per usual there is more than one story going on here, lots of arcing. The main one is of course is Tres and Selena, very sad. Then there is Layla and Xcor. This is the story I was looking forward to, but alas now I'm mad it is going in a direction I don't like. Then of course we have a new romance with the other twin, Iam and Mechan/Cotra. There is also a few parts for other varies characters. One is a new character, a girl named Paradise and I think she will have more in the future with the training camp, a good start for her.
Now, now all you reviewers that are harping on Jim Frangione, give the guy a break. First off, he still reads the same as all the other books. If he has changed the names it is not his doing, it is the author and the publisher you can blame them. Jim is doing his job. I thought he did the best he could with the names he has to work with. I work in Vital Records and you cannot believe some of the crazy names people come up with, and then try to pronounce them, impossible.
Warning this story is less than ten minutes long, with a preview of How to Train your Dragon for the remaining time. While this story is cute, I think this should have just been added to the end of the first book. I'm glad I waited for the semi annual sale to get it. I did not like the echo that came when Stoic talked, portraying how big he was, good thing the other books aren't like that. Read by the Author who is okay but is no David Tennatt (whom I love.) Although the preview of How to Train your Dragon is narrated by David Tennatt.
Explains a lot about how Cal progressed from his armor being destroyed to the new and improved creation that Cal built to destroy Ultra Weapon. Still funny even without much new material for the story line. I appreciated that he did not give up on his best friend, even if his best friend is a robot. Narrator does an excellent job of portraying Cal's wicked sense of humor.
I liked the first book okay, but there were things about it that was off putting and since the reviewers were saying the second book is better I figured I would give it another shot. Especially since I bought the first three book in this series unheard, but at $6.00 total it was hard not to. There was some really funny parts and overall it was better than the first book, there were still a few off putting parts. It's hard to believe how understanding Wyatt is. I did laughed my ass off when Sam turned into a dog. I also like Diablo the horse demon. The narrator has a weird voice, and she reads soooooo slow so I ended up putting my player on fast speed.
Another hot book by Suzanne Wright. The pages were steaming with this book. So if you are a fan of the series pick it up. I still love the first book best, with the third my least favorite. I wish there was a little more action, but for a romance it is great. I love the characters in this book and can't wait for the next couple to have their book, I'm hoping it's Ryan's book. Since it has been awhile since I read the other books and I did need a bit to remember all the characters, but the one I forgot most was Roni (Nick's Sister from book 3) although it came back quickly. I got this book/audio for $5.98 total using the Whispersync feature. Narrator does an awesome job.
