Good one for young adults. I was interested enough by the first book to continue on with the rest of the series.
Well performed, well written, good story....addresses some things we don't like to think about, such as alcoholism and domestic violence, which makes it more gripping. But the main character had the hair stand up on the back of her neck and her scalp prickled one too many times.....:)
good writing and extremely gripping storytelling. just so dark. I can't take too much of this author at a time. I do plan to read or listen to the rest of the novels in this series, but I'll probably have to space them out.
great characters. unusual storyline. managed to avoid most of the stereotypes of this genre. kept me engaged
not my favorite, but still love everything by this powerful author. he always gets to the pith
fearless. Lets us formulate the unthinkable. difficult concepts but so worth it. jump in, eh?
but overall, triumphant. I really like this author's willingness to take us where we don't want to go, and help us grow in spite of ourselves
We get CRAZY when it comes to our children, and the author gets that absolutely.
Fun and gutsy. She manages to make even very peculiar situations ring with a certain authenticity
...very skilfully done, showing the ease with which we miss the point with each other day in and day out
...I was just not in the mood. The narration matched the writer's style perfectly; almost un-inflected. Reminds me of Anthony Stevens' "A Dance to the Music of Time," which was similarly straightforward.
