I would not recommend this book to a friend. The plot isn't revealed until almost the end of the book. It seems to have been rushed or thrown together.
I might compare it to Don Quixote. They both give insight on daily life in their respective times.
I may try another one. However, his voice and inflection hardly changed from character to character.
I'll give this book another try in the future.
The difficulties that these men had to endure were mind blowing. The accounts of the patience that they had, the food that they ate, the weather that they suffered through, and the determination that they possessed make this an almost addictive tale.
I enjoyed this story so much that I picked up the book from the library and read it to my sons just a week after listening to the audio book.
This is one of the best audiobooks that I have listened to. This is also one of the best autobiographies that I have listened to.
What struck me is that Mandela received support from the enemies of the West during the Cold War.
There were no significant character changes.
The culmination of his life's work at the end had an impact on me.
I am glad that I listened to this book. I would buy the print version of it so that I can return to certain chapters in the future.
I have had enough. I listened to Too Fat To Fish. I don't feel like making myself depressed.
The most interesting aspect is that Artie survived all of this stuff. The least interesting is that everything seemed predictable.
It was not a good performance.
I would go see it.
I have not read the print version. I saw the movie after listening to the book. As usual, the book is better.
I like the intertwined lives of the characters.
I like Sherman McCoy's criminal attorney.
I have no extreme reaction. However, it is highly enjoyable.
I'm going to look up more Tom Wolfe books.
I would rather read it for my second time. There are some chapters that I don't need to review but I missed many of the concepts that were discussed about his work with physics.
I liked getting a picture of his demeanor and personality.
His voice is not boring. He kept my attention.
His personal relationships remind me of Warren Buffet's.
Constant. Train. Wreck.
Artie is my favorite character. It's an autobiography.
I wish that he would have finished reading the entire book himself.
his dad's death
I got through it pretty quickly. I needed some popular culture after listening to Einstein's biography.
Pi is my favorite. He his smart, cunning, strong, wise, and kind.
I have not. This performance is good.
I tried to listen to it in one sitting. I couldn't wait to finish it.
I enjoyed listening to this book. I enjoyed the story and the performance.
Listening to this book was not a waste of time. It's considered a classic and I just listened to Around the World in 80 Days again. I don't think I'll listen to this one again though.
I think it's a mediocre ending. The story wraps up abruptly.
I have not. I enjoyed his performance though.
I did see an old version of it.
I have not read the print version.
The money in the fire
I have not.
I didn't want to think that the guy was an idiot, but I think he ended up being just that.
I like Crime and Punishment better.
