Against a vivid backdrop of war and thrilling innovation, Danielle Steel breathes life into history, weaving an intensely human story that spans three decades, of two tremendously different people, who in spite of themselves, are irrevocably woven into the fabric of each other's lives. More Steel.

I loved this love story. It is so familiar though, and I think it was a made-for-tv movie although I can't find a record of it anywhere. But...I do remember this being on tv...maybe under another name.

Jamie Fraser knows from his time-traveling wife Claire that, no matter how unlikely it seems, America will win the Revolutionary War. But that truth offers little solace, since Jamie realizes he might find himself pointing a weapon directly at his own son - a young officer in the British army. And Jamie isn't the only one with a tormented soul - for Claire may know who wins the conflict, but she certainly doesn't know whether or not her beloved Jamie survives.

Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

At 31, Noah Calhoun, back in coastal North Carolina after World War II, is haunted by images of the girl he lost more than a decade earlier. At 29, socialite Allie Nelson is about to marry a wealthy lawyer, but she cannot stop thinking about the boy who long ago stole her heart. Thus begins the story of a love so enduring and deep it can turn tragedy into triumph, and may even have the power to create a miracle.

I have liked almost all of the books by Nicholas Sparks. This one was not disappointing.

Amazingly though, I LOVE the movie and connected totally with the story and the characters. The book is the same story; however, way too much talk, talk, talk in the story. I listened to the entire book, but was ready for it to be over. I have watched the movie over and over, and never tire of it.

I liked this book and the narrator was really good. But, the movie was better, and I wouldn't recommend this particular book. So sorry.

In the fall of 1984, high school students Amanda Collier and Dawson Cole fell deeply, irrevocably in love. Though they were from opposite sides of the tracks, their love for one another seemed to defy the realities of life in the small town of Oriental, North Carolina. But as the summer of their senior year came to a close, unforeseen events would tear the young couple apart, setting them on radically divergent paths.

As usual, the story grabs slowly, but surely. We get to know each character, and after having read all of Nicholas Spark's book, I was sure there was going to be a surprise, and I wasn't disappointed. Fantastic book. Had me in tears in places....as usual.

I don't think I could ever go wrong listening or reading one of his books. Great book, and worth the time to listen.

Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Literature, Margaret Mitchell's great novel of the South is one of the most popular books ever written. Within six months of its publication in 1936, Gone With the Wind had sold a million copies. To date, it has been translated into 25 languages, and more than 28 million copies have been sold. Here are the characters that have become symbols of passion and desire....

The story itself is spell-binding. The lady who narrated the book added so much to the story. She is easy to listen to, and carries one right into the mood of the characters. She brought them to life.

I read this book back in 1960, and listening to it now gave me the same thrill I had back then. Gone With the Wind is my absolute favorite all-time book. Can't go wrong with this download.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared.....

I loved this book. The narrator was clear and added so much to the story.

The book was well-written and took you back to the War in such vivid imagery. It was difficult to stop listening....so anxious to finding what happens next. Then, I looked up the hero of the story on the Internet since he is a real person.

In fact, I loved this book so much that I ordered a Hardback copy of the book for my library.

I don't think anyone would regret getting this audiobook. Fantastic story.

Here is a world where men and dragons coexist amid political intrigue and dark magic, where the uneasy balance of power between the two is on the verge of becoming undone, threatening to unleash waves of destruction that will pit humans against humans as well as dragons against men for the domination of the world. Humanity's very survival is at risk.
