I couldn't put this book down. About the time I thought I knew what it was about, it shocks me by something I never saw coming.
I was very intrigued by the story, and can hardly wait to listen to the 2nd book. Definitely worth your time to listen to this one.
I loved the story line. If you are a fan of "Gone with The Wind", this book will grab you. The characters are believable, and the story brings to life the history that lead up to the Civil War. Anxious to continue the story with Book 2.
Carrie, the main character. She was her own person and was strong, not selfish or acting like a victim.
This is the first.
Yes, when the slave hunters almost caught the runaway slaves.
This book and series is well worth the time to listen or read. Best book I've read since "Outlander".
It was a continuation of the story of Jamie & Claire.
Less historical references. More about Jamie & Claire. Got very tired of hearing about the Revolution, and the history and characters. Too much time spent on Jamie's son, Lord John, and Brianna. It was a LONG book, but not much in it directly about Jamie and Claire.
Jamie, of course.
Only if they cut out all the historical narrative and get straight to the main story of the characters.
I loved the first 7 books, but this one left me flat.
I have faithfully listened to all 7 books, and have been excited to hear the end of the this saga. It ended suddenly without completing all the unanswered questions. Very disappointed!!!!
Can't stop listening!!! Fantastic love story and, adventure story. The narrator is wonderful. She brings the story to life.
I have liked almost all of the books by Nicholas Sparks. This one was not disappointing.
Amazingly though, I LOVE the movie and connected totally with the story and the characters. The book is the same story; however, way too much talk, talk, talk in the story. I listened to the entire book, but was ready for it to be over. I have watched the movie over and over, and never tire of it.
I liked this book and the narrator was really good. But, the movie was better, and I wouldn't recommend this particular book. So sorry.
As usual, the story grabs slowly, but surely. We get to know each character, and after having read all of Nicholas Spark's book, I was sure there was going to be a surprise, and I wasn't disappointed. Fantastic book. Had me in tears in places....as usual.
I don't think I could ever go wrong listening or reading one of his books. Great book, and worth the time to listen.
The story itself is spell-binding. The lady who narrated the book added so much to the story. She is easy to listen to, and carries one right into the mood of the characters. She brought them to life.
I read this book back in 1960, and listening to it now gave me the same thrill I had back then. Gone With the Wind is my absolute favorite all-time book. Can't go wrong with this download.
I loved this book. The narrator was clear and added so much to the story.
The book was well-written and took you back to the War in such vivid imagery. It was difficult to stop listening....so anxious to finding what happens next. Then, I looked up the hero of the story on the Internet since he is a real person.
In fact, I loved this book so much that I ordered a Hardback copy of the book for my library.
I don't think anyone would regret getting this audiobook. Fantastic story.
I loved this love story. It is so familiar though, and I think it was a made-for-tv movie although I can't find a record of it anywhere. But...I do remember this being on tv...maybe under another name.
