This book was way more than about I.R.A., it was about lives and crime associated with the upheaval during that time period. The writer took you there. I liked the humor, it was well placed when needed. The reader was awesome! I didn't like the ending, but other than that it was a good book.
This story was very good, well written...but it was too "messed" up for me, meaning it was really gruesome. My husband loved it! I know there are people in the world like those in the book and it was disturbing to me, but my husband says "it's just a good story, by a clever minded author". I know my hubby will read the sequence of Department Q...I'm not sure I will. The reader was very good, the plot was enthralling.
I had been to Yellowstone National Park several times and C.J. Box took me back there with the descriptions of the lodge, the mud springs, Old Faithful etc. The characters all mesh nicely in the book and he presented a very nice story. I like that he brings back good ol' Nate. I love his character! Wasn't a predictable plot and was an enjoyable listen. I have read all of the Joe Pickett books in sequence so far. Looking forward to all of them.
Wow! Some of the descriptive scenes were pretty brutal, but necessary to depict the story to completion. Well written and suspenseful! I enjoy CJ Box involves Joe Pickett's family in each book and describes how much bureaucracy there is within the departments of his job and the chain of command involved with his position as a Wyoming game warden. Each book of the Joe Pickett series gets better and better!
Every book in the Joe Pickett series gets better and better! I enjoy CJ Box and his descriptive writing and very good story lines. This book did not disappoint, in fact it made me want to finish the entire series right away. A very good read!
This book enlightens the reader on some of the ways each department of the US government handle situations involving crimes in the wilderness. Very informative read! CJ Box is an awesome writer and the Joe Pickett series are very captivating. All of his family are mentioned in each book and he involves them in his stories which I like. I recommend this series to anyone that enjoys vast countryside descriptions of Wyoming along with a well written story.
My husband and I really enjoy these stories while driving. They are well written and very descriptive and aren't easy to figure out "who done it" which we like. Unpredictable and very enjoyable.
Very suspenseful and the story was well written, but it wasn't a story that I enjoyed or liked. The reader was awesome. However, I will try Dept. Q book 2, to see if that story is more to my liking.
Author Craig Johnson is one of my favorites! I have enjoyed the series and hope for more! This book is about modern life in Wyoming with the oil field, Cheyenne nation and the unlawful branch off of the LDS church. George (the reader) should of done his homework on the LDS religion and Utah, he mispronounced several common words in the west. Other than that, the story was well written and did not disappoint! As always, I enjoy the humor, vast descriptions and the characters in this series. Keep 'em coming Mr. Johnson!
A good tale about a boy growing up and all the obstacles, good and bad experiences, good and bad choices. The unabridged version is really long, the author takes a long time to get to a point, especially at the end. Rushes through some things and drags out others. However it is a good story, EXCELLENT reader!! Just way to long!
The humor and characters in this story will reel you in! Craig Johnson is a very descriptive writer and I enjoy his style. These Walt Longmire series are favorites of me and my husband. I enjoy his interactions with "the locals" in this book. The story will take a twist, a double meaning in the title!
