Even though you may read the reviews and they say this is an abridged work and some of the work is missing, it is a good book. If you haven't read the book, you may not know the difference. I did wish that the main female character would have had someone else trying to court her but this version makes it appear as though she had blind devotion. The male character her love interest frustrated me a lot. He was trying to make too many people happy. This story switches between past to present almost every chapter so if you don't like time jumping this is not the story for you. Overall it does what a story is suppose to do, makes you smile and sometimes frustrates you.
The only reason I didn't return this book was because the narrator was really good. I didn't listen to the books in order and by listening to past books they led me to believe that Nina was a strong woman. She had strong moments...well...actually kind of stupid moments, that someone less aggressive may think of as strong. I found the Alpha character to be irritating to say the least and hard to like most of the time. If you were stranded in a small town knowing people are kind of crazy now a days would you really allow complete strangers control???? Really??? Out of all the books this was my least favorite. I would recommend...Breathe, Lady Luck, and Sweet Dreams. Which all portrayed Nina as being strong...she's a lawyer so you would think so but she was only strong w/business. When it came to protecting her friends but when it came to her she rarely had a backbone in my opinion but then again I'm a more dominate female so well.
The story was good but the narrator did a poor job w/the male voices. At times I wasn't sure if she was even trying to do a male character or simply reading. The story was good not great but good. It got better as the time went on. The first couple of hours I really was thinking about asking for my credit back. But after I got past my irritation w/the narrator I started to enjoy the story. I will say at the end she did finally get a little better with the male characters and she did the children characters perfectly. If narrators make or break a book for you then I don't believe I would recommend this book. Her voice isn't irritating just doesn't seem like she put any real effort in the lead male character. However if you can imagine it's your mom reading a bedtime story then this is a nice story.
When I think of dominatrix I think of a much stronger character in a female. The main female character lived a dual life which was fine regarding careers but personality I would have preferred her to be dominating in both. When you read dominating books w/males dominating they rule in their professional and love life. If you are looking for that I would not recommend this book. If you are looking for a love story w/a little bit of kink this may satisfy you.
It was manipulative, passionate, dominating and romantic in a twisted way. If you liked fifty shades of grey well this book will give you your credit worth. In some ways I loved the heroine and other ways she worked my nerves because she didn't seem strong enough but she was not stupid. I wouldn't want her best friend because sometimes you really will wonder who side is she on. Then the our leading male character is just that a character. He is someone that in the states that you would really consider putting a restraining order on but he's such a great lay that you'll be like "nevermind"...lol. I bought both books and hope that there will be another.
I love the strength of the heroine and the hero. They are indeed well matched.
I am a big fan of Judd. He knows he is strong but doesn't try to assert himself and tries to just stay in the shadows. Yet do not test him because he will deal with you swiftly if he chooses.
She did all the characters very well. You will be able to distinguish each character which is appreciated.
Yes, and I've listened to it several times.
Judd is a strong character, he is anti-social but you will love this man because at least you know when he does talk he actually makes sense. Breanna is a strong young lady who is a survivor but knows that she needs someone to lean on and she doesn't waste any time making that clear. You'll see characters from previously stories if you've listened to the first couple of books. As previously recommended try to listen to them in order. I believe you will be pleasantly surprised.
Fire meets ice.
Honestly I don't know what I can compare this book too.
She just does the character voices sooooo well.
This is my favorite book in the series. I have listened to it at least 7 times. I love the way things just kept building up and how they didn't just fall right into each other. The hero was having a hard time of letting go in his mind but his heart knew what was really right for him and the heroine who is really strong knew how to push buttons and keep it moving without seeming like she was desperate for him.
Her Future Love
I like that the story flowed smoothly. The love wasn't rushed, there wasn't a lot of sex yet there is passion.
The hero is kind of stalkerish but not in a bad way...LOL...but really he does just breaks into her room...
I would recommend reading the books in order. But alone this is a good book. Well written and the narrator is great.
This book is in my top 10 and it's only the second of the series and the first is also in the top 10 so that should say a lot.
Find out the details of Genevieve and the torture she went through and what she did to get her freedom. It was in best terms messed up but it was a necessary evil. After you listen I'm sure you would think to yourself, "heck yeah, I would have done that too"....
I listened to her in the first book, "Never Seduce a Scot" and I loved her in that book as well which is another reason why it made getting this book such a great decision. I wish I would have known about this book prior to spending a credit on a book recommend by the concierge.
I just loved that everything was so feasible. Nothing was too far fetched and seemed to be very realistic. Kirsten brought all the characters to life.
I would recommend this book and while I believe it would be best to listen to them in order this book could stand alone because it does answer any backdrop questions you may have while listening. You will go through a roller coaster of emotions...well at least I did. I laughed, got angry at some of the bad treatment of the heroine, and again as w/the other book got a little teary eyed.
I would listen to another book read by Kate Reading but am unsure if I would buy another Sophie Kinsella book.
The ending did nothing for me. If anything I would have asked for a better ending.
I am unsure if Kate is British but if not she did the accents well. I like that the men also sounded like men and not a woman trying to sound like a man.
If this book was a movie then I would be disappointed that someone decided to make another version of Bridget Jones Diary.
Overall this book was okay. If I would have never seen Bridget Jones Diary maybe I would have liked it more. But seeing how that wasn't the case I was not impressed. This will not be one that I would listen to over and over again. The main guy in this story didn't have enough character build up or background. The girl as someone else said did a lot of self talk as it was in...guess what...Bridget Jones Diary. If you want something w/a "brand new" storyline then I would not recommend this book. However if you don't mind a different version of an already good story this book will make you smile, some of you may even laugh.
