Alexandra Fuller won worldwide attention, popular acclaim, and critical accolades for her memoir of her childhood in Africa, Don’t Let’s Go to the Dogs Tonight. This engaging follow-up explores Fuller’s parents’ childhoods and charts the trajectories of their lives through all the British couple’s experiences in war-torn Africa. With the same sharply etched narrative that has earned the author such immense praise, Fuller expands on and offers new insights into her family’s remarkable trials and successes.

I learned about this book through a friend. The narrator has the perfect voice for this book, very enjoyable to listen to. It was great to hear about a families life in another continent. "Nicola Fuller of Central Africa" what a character. Can't imagine the losses that she and her husband endured. A very funny yet sad book.

In this first volume of his memoirs, then-newly-qualified vet James Herriot arrives in the small Yorkshire village of Darrowby, and he has no idea what to expect. How will he get on with his new boss? The local farmers? And what will the animals think? This program is filled with hilarious and touching tales of the unpredictable Siegfried Farnon, his charming student brother Tristan, and Herriot's first encounters with a beautiful girl named Helen.

What does Christopher Timothy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He has a great voice and does the other characters voices in an amusing way. It's awesome that they got the actor from the BBC series to narrate the audio book!!!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would recommend this book to anyone. It is a heartbreaking and fulfilling story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

It is hard to pick between Julia and Sarah.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I was listening to it in my car but the last half I listened to because I had to finish it, had to know how it ended...just like Julia felt.
