On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

Before he was considered a CIA superagent, before he was thought of as a terrorists worst nightmare, and before he was both loathed and admired by the politicians on Capitol Hill, Mitch Rapp was a gifted college athlete without a care in the world . . . and then tragedy struck.

    "Disappointed"
    Overall

I'm sorry, this was my first Vince Flynn book. The reviews for Mr Flynn were excellent so I took a chance. American Assassin never hooked me and I don't think in will in its last hour. I don't know why, maybe the third-person narrative was too slow. Maybe the stroy didn't even grab the narrator, would explain why it was a painful listen. Maybe the characters just didn't inspire me.

If you are looking for your first Vince Flynn novel, don't choose this one.

    "Can't wait for The Lion"
    Overall

I started with "The Lion's Game" followed up with "Night Fall" and will now listen to "Plum Island" while I wait for "The Lion".

"Night Fall" was well written and read. I couldn't figure out the ending, which was an interesting way to end this part of the story.

I'm interested to find out which characters will be in the next book.

This is a fine listen and definitely worth the purchase. Enjoy

To survive in a game with no rules at all, John Corey must invent a strategy that includes no luck at all. He and the Anti-Terrorist Task Force must stop "The Lion," an alleged Libyan terrorist with the instincts of a wild animal, the bloodlust of a carnivore, and the boldness and speed of a cat of prey.

  • The Company: A Novel of the CIA

    • UNABRIDGED (41 hrs and 22 mins)
    • By Robert Littell
    • Narrated By Scott Brick
    Overall

    Performance
    (2229)
    Story
    (2225)

"If Robert Littell didn't invent the American spy novel," says Tom Clancy, "he should have." In this spectacular Cold-War-as-Alice-in-Wonderland epic, Littell, "the American le Carre," takes us down the rabbit hole and into the labyrinthine world of espionage that has been the CIA for the last half-century. "Ostensibly a single novel, The Company can also be listened to as an anthology of cracking good spy stories," says (Publishers Weekly).

    "Excellent Listen"
    Overall

I found this book to be a execellent novel for putting history in prespective (for me). There were characters I like a lot and those not so much. I would recommend the book.

Pocket has been Lear's cherished fool for years. So naturally Pocket is at his brainless, elderly liege's side when Lear demands that his kids swear to him their undying love and devotion. Of course Goneril and Regan are only too happy to brownnose Dad. But Cordelia believes that her father's request is kind of...well...stupid, and her blunt honesty ends up costing her her rightful share of the kingdom and earns her a banishment to boot.

Michael says: "Mr Moore does it again."
    "First Timer"
    Overall

I've just become a listener, and purchased this based on the home page recommendation.
I could not have made a better choice.
This is an adult book (due to language).
I will be listening to all of Christorper Moore's book and be giving serious consideration to every thing Euan Morton reads.
