  • Once a Runner

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 38 mins)
    • By John L. Parker Jr.
    • Narrated By Patrick Lawlor
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Once a Runner captures the essence of what it means to be a competitive runner; to devote your entire existence to a single-minded pursuit of excellence. It has become one of the most beloved sports novels ever written. Originally self-published in 1978 and sold at road races out of the trunk of the author's car, reading the book became a rite of passage for many runners, and tattered copies were handed down like sacred texts from generation to generation.

    Rick J. Mitchell says: "Spellbinding!"
    "Didn't care for authors voice"

The voice on this recording was a bit annoying. Difficulty with download onto CDs which skippped a lot--a waste of $.

  • Advanced Energy Anatomy: The Science of Co-Creation and Your Power of Choice

    • ORIGINAL (9 hrs and 49 mins)
    • By Caroline Myss
    • Narrated By Carolyn Myss

Advanced Energy Anatomy guides you to a new understanding of how archetypes and other unconscious forces relate to problems of health, addiction, self-esteem, and victimhood, while opening you to partnership with the divine power that makes everything in life possible. It is "so well organized and intimately expressed," says AudioFile, "that repeated listening and sharing with friends will be hard to resist."

    Rebecca says: "Advanced Energy Anatomy"
    "Reveals Unconscious Patterns"

I am not one who usually gives archetypes a lot of credit. However, Ms. Myss broke open a lot of patterns that had been unconsciously operating in my life. I recommend this recording for anyone who wants a unique perspective on the conditioned patterns of one self, and how to bring light awareness to destructive or limiting patterns.

  • The Journey Into Yourself

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs)
    • By Eckhart Tolle
    • Narrated By Eckhart Tolle

The theme of this four-day retreat: "It's Always Now" The Now is inseparable from who you are at the deepest level. It is the prerequisite of Being. As you listen to the words on this tape, you participate in the retreat. To "retreat" means to step back - not only from the outer world, but also from the world in your head, the thinking mind. Allow the sound of the words to take you beyond words and beyond sound to the stillness within.

Stephanie says: "The best Audible credit I've spent yet"
    "Take a retreat with Tolle!"

Eckharts clear mind and calm demeanor, are both wise and insightful. Listening to this recording from one of his retreats--made me feel as if I was there. It was very healing and brought a lot of wisdom and compassion to my own practice of being (present).

  • Let Yourself Go: The Freedom & Power of Life Beyond Belief

    • ABRIDGED (6 hrs and 55 mins)
    • By Arjuna Ardagh
    • Narrated By Arjuna Ardagh

If you took your hands off the steering wheel of your life (or at least relaxed your grip a bit), what would happen? On Let Yourself Go, Arjuna Ardagh invites listeners to find out, as they discover how to identify and dissolve the hidden points of view that obscure the true nature of reality and the essence of what we are.

    Neil says: "Transformative"
"Good information--but you've gotta dig for it."

Arjuna offers some solid practical advice for working with the mind and many of the ways we get "hooked." At times his meditation exercises can be a over-simplistic. I found myself skipping through a lot of the audio to dig for some good kernels of wisdom.

This is a great guide for someone who wants to know the scientific background of awakening. Lots of details and well-thought out explanations. It's get ready! The guided meditations are helpful, but his voice can be slightly annoying (only for the meditations part...the teachings are great).

  • The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 38 mins)
    • By Bill Bryson
    • Narrated By Bill Bryson
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Bill Bryson was born in the middle of the American century, 1951, in the middle of the United States, Des Moines, Iowa, in the middle of the largest generation in American history, the baby boomers. As one of the best and funniest writers alive, his is perfectly positioned to mine his memories of a totally all-American childhood for 24-carat memoir gold. Like millions of his generational peers, Bill Bryson grew up with a rich fantasy life as a superhero.

David says: "Fun, but not for squeamish"
    "So funny and quite interesting!"

As usual, Bill delivers! His wit and informative narrative remains highly entertaining. Bill grew up in the same era as my parents--giving me a incredible insight as to what life might have been like during their childhood. Bill also does a great job portraying life through a boy's eyes--delightfully insightful!

  • Spontaneous Awakening

    • ORIGINAL (7 hrs and 27 mins)
    • By Adyashanti
    • Narrated By Adyashanti

For those who are seeking a path of simplicity, not bound by the trappings of spiritual practice, Adyashanti brings a fresh and humble approach to Zen wisdom. "Don't think that awakening is the end," teaches Adyashanti. "Awakening is the end of seeking, the end of the seeker, but it is the beginning of a life lived from your true nature."

    TeresaD says: "Satsang w/ Adyashanti"
    "Great for Awakened Minds"

If you are wondering what life will be like once you've experienced awakening...this is very helpful. Even if you haven't had the experience; listening to Adya is very helpful--a good reminder to just be as you are; as you always have been.
