For as long as she can remember, Lydia Westland has dreamed of glittering London society. Finding herself at last in England, she is determined to make the most of this opportunity. Clutching her copy of Blunders in Behaviour Corrected she sets forth to find a suitably titled husband. But what she finds instead is Rhys Rhodes, a second son with a past that is anything but glittering. To Rhys, Lydia is everything he has lost - innocence, laughter, joy - and everything he cannot have.

What made the experience of listening to Love with a Scandalous Lord the most enjoyable?

The ups, downs, wish it was, wish it wasn't and the....wish I could reach in there and shake them, fun! I cried, laughed, wanted to turn it off, never did turn it off ... just plain good!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Love with a Scandalous Lord?

Why would I purposely write a spoiler? You need to live it with them.... the very very best moments were the ones I won't tell you. ...

    Which scene was your favorite?

In the middle of the ballroom.... I won't tell you when. But I felt that moment in my heart!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES YES YES YES YESSSSSSSSS! Actually..... I did!

    Any additional comments?

The narrative was incredibly hard to get into... in the beginning I wondered a bit... but quickly enough the narrator was gone and the character's were in my head!

Sometimes the devil is disguised as a gentleman... In this third installment of the award-winning Devil DeVere series, DeVere is finally center stage when Ned, Annalee, and her cousin, Diana arrive at DeVere’s estate for a weekend of horseracing. From the first meeting, DeVere makes his interest in Diana acutely known. Although she sees no harm in a light flirtation, she doesn’t intend to become another notch on his bedpost. Nevertheless, DeVere fascinates her.

I've never been SO frustrated with the 'end' of a book... there was no end... vague possibilities and not a single conclusion. I am disgusted!
It was so good until then! Forget that characters were alive that had died. The one wife came back from the dead and the new one not mentioned. You'd have to read others in the series to know that....
    Very hot, steamy, dirty!
Creditworthiness. ... if it had a end I'd say yes!

Without spoiling too much beyond what you could already glean from the summaries.......

Book 1 is driven by the fact that Ned is alone again since Annalee had died three years earlier.... It is Ned's love story.... NOT with Annalee but with phoebe! DeVere is the catalyst and is still his debauched self and single.... very!

Book 3 is DeVere's story... in which Ned and Annalee, not Phoebe!!, are the driving catalyst. This is too backwards for even me, a most tolerable reader/listener who forgives much.

Without spending more time picking it apart I have to say that within the first 20 minutes I discovered numerous other major time line errors and story conflicts.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH ALL THIS?
It's ridiculous. And since this one is DeVere's story I can't even suggest you read them in another order.

Shame on you Ms. Vane, shouldn't you know your own books well enough to keep the characters in a logical storyline? You screwed up big-time here! Or did different authors write these books without consulting one another???

So.... shall I review this for what it is on its own? Since I've had my rant I guess I should go listen to the rest of it.

Every devil has a beginning... In this first of three prequels to the award-winning Devil DeVere series, we meet Ludovic, Ned, and Simon as youths in this riotous Georgian romp written in the tradition of Fielding's Tom Jones. Since their first meeting at Westminster, Ned, Simon, and DeVere had forged an iron-clad bond that had maintained them through nearly six years. From the outset, Ludovic's scandalous family secrets had set him apart from the other aristocratic scions as an "untouchable." Deny it as he tried, the ugly truth remained that his mother was indeed the biggest whore in England, and his presumed father, the viscount, no less than a pox-ridden madman.

Yes the narrator is awful... truly awful. however to speed him up one and a half or two times the speed makes him almost tolerable. I just don't really see the point in this novella other than a couple of sentences of information.
Credit worthy No! Either buy it on sale or skip it.
Heat factor nonexistent although sexual situations and blatant speech does prevail.

Choppy, clipped and over enunciated, the totally wrong inflection and bizarre rhythm of the narrator detracts from the story... a lot! Given that comment I have to say that I did listen to it all... and that there were no confusing moments where voices of characters were indistinguishable. I actually really liked the story even tho it left me feeling a little bit lost. I suspect Julians story, which must be next, will solve it all. I pray for a different narrator!!!!

worth a credit? hell yes and heavens no!

I found the narrator rather uncomfortable to listen to. She had a odd way of speaking... the cadence all wrong, inflection wrong and each character was not very distinct. I will pass on her work in the future.

The storyline was ok... the ending too fast! If it hadn't been short I may not have made it to the end. Not bad but kind of Blah...a little Bleck.

There was little heat in the story yet the occasional explicit language was all X rated. But had no real steam to it.

Worth a Credit, definitely not!! Buy it on sale? probably not. But that's just my opinion...of course.

Very well done! At one point I had to remind myself that this is a romance novel and everything would come out ok. I dislike novels that are so full of history that they are more like non fictional historical texts rather than a romance novel... but this story wove the two together brilliantly. But the history was by far a driving force that consumes much of this book. Hero and villain and a strong but trusting maiden are each richly written and portrayed. The heroine is smart strong woman and the men are... men!
    Both author and narrator delivered.
    Worth a credit? Yes.
Heat factor? High yet very little time was spent on it. Heat was not the driving force of this book.

If you want a typical highland romance.... all hot highlander and sexual tension with lots of fluff and a little strife then skip this one.

Lady Philippa Casemore caused quite a scene at her very first ball of her very first season. She even landed herself, somehow, on the pages of the infamous betting book at White's gentleman's club. Unfortunately, she doesn't remember one moment of the night in question. Not the music. Not the notorious rake she'd dragged into the middle of the dance floor. Not the flask of opium-laced brandy she'd downed without realizing it's contents...

Sweet for a short one. Sappy syrup in the ending dialogue (I really hate that, ruins a good story every time! Geesh...) but what can you expect in such a short story? Well...less flowers more foliage please.
Had to be good however since I went to see if there more Ava Stone I hadn't heard...

Don't use a credit, it's a $5 story... but YES, DO spend the 5 bucks. Providing of course that sweetness and fluff is your desire.
    Enjoy!
