I too had heard that this was a fun read with a lot of laughs. Well I won't be taking recommendations from those sources again! Did not finish listening after too many that did not deliver.
Diane Mott Davidson never lets me down. And if you are a fan you will love the ending on this one!
I found that the mystery certainly kept me going and just enough twists to keep you guessing. But the humor throughout made this book totally enjoyable.
What I had heard about this book led me to downloading the book. However, I found it slightly different than I had been told. I did like learning about another way of life.
I thought this was enjoyable because it was another look at what the world could look like in the future without it being full of science fiction.
I like the characters that M.C. Beaton creates and I do like to listen to them frequently between some of the much longer much more involved mysteries.
When I saw the title and I first heard that this story was told by the dog, I was a little skeptical. But I was surprised at how very much I did enjoy this book and the more I thought about it afterwards my enjoyment grew. By having the dog tell the story there was no judgement about the circumstances, just acceptance.
A reminder that sometimes what is inside the cover is a well written surprise.
This was a nice story to listen to while I was driving across country. I would try another book by Laura Lippman.
James Patterson is not my favorite author but I do like to occasionally listen to an author that I have not read or listened to for awhile. It was ok. I think another reader may have made it a better overall experience.
I'll pass any future books written by Pam Houston. It didn't help to that she was also the reader, since her voice did nothing to bring this story to life.
And the ending...well not much of one.
I do not recommend this one.
