New York is the book that millions of Rutherfurd's American fans have been waiting for. A brilliant mix of romance, war, family drama, and personal triumphs, it gloriously captures the search for freedom and prosperity at the heart of our nation's history.

    "Not so much"

After reading the other glowing reviews I decided to listen to New York. What a disappointment! The first part of the book was pretty good but it really fell apart after that. The later characters were just not as well developed.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The second part of the trilogy hits the ground running and never stops. The story will keep you hanging on every word. The characters are well developed - even the villains.

What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I listen to a lot of audio books and Scott Brick is my absolute, #1 favorite narrator. I love the inflections to his voice. He is a perfect match for this book.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed and cried and stayed on the edge of my seat the entire time.

    Any additional comments?

I can't wait for the next book! Justin Cronin... get to work!

The planet Majipoor is shared by humans and several alien races, including four-armed Skandars, three-eyed Liiman, and the native, shape-shifting Metamorphs. All are watched over by the King of Dreams, the labyrinth-dwelling Pontifex, and the priestess of the Isle of Sleep, while the Coronal officially rules from atop Castle Mount.

What made the experience of listening to Lord Valentine's Castle the most enjoyable?

I read this book a number of years ago and was happy to find it on Audible. It didn't challenge my intellect or make me want to take up a political cause - it was just a fun futuristic/medieval romp. Sometimes those are the best books.

Would you be willing to try another book from Robert Silverberg? Why or why not?

    Sure.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I liked the narrator - his voice was smooth and he didn't overdo the drama in his voice. It was delightful.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It wanted me to dust off my juggling balls.

They were just kids when they stumbled upon the horror of their hometown. Now, as adults, none of them can withstand the force that has drawn them all back to Derry, Maine, to face the nightmare without end, and the evil without a name.

What made the experience of listening to It the most enjoyable?

Stephen King never disappoints! IT pulled me in and didn't let me go until Silver, the bike, rode down the road.

What other book might you compare It to and why?

It doesn't have the high body count that "Under the Dome" had but both wove a great tale. I liked the simultaneous development of characters in each book. Strong, heroic figures. Tragedy and a sense of humor.

What about Steven Weber’s performance did you like?

Steven Weber was fantastic. His voices were right on the mark. The villian's voices gave me the creeps while the boys/men had the optimism of youth. His voices and King's words are a terrific pairing!

If you could take any character from It out to dinner, who would it be and why?

I'd like to dine with Beverly to see how she survived her childhood after being terrorized by her father. Had she forgotten it all?

    Any additional comments?

I'll never look at balloons the same way again.

MacKayla Lane was just a child when she and her sister, Alina, were given up for adoption and banished from Ireland forever. Twenty years later, Alina is dead and Mac has returned to the country that expelled them to hunt her sister’s murderer. But after discovering that she descends from a bloodline both gifted and cursed, Mac is plunged into a secret history: an ancient conflict between humans and immortals who have lived concealed among us for thousands of years.

This is the first time that after the first hour of listening to this book, I had to stop. The narration was very annoying. The woman basically screeched for almost the entire time. Very difficult to get into the story line. A regretful use of a credit.
