This was a very enjoyable listen. A detective story with two primary characters, Cormoran (the detective) and Robin (the detective's assistant). Both are fully engaged trying to solve a gruesome murder of a published author. Can't say too much more without giving away the plot. Really enjoyed this one!
When I find a really good book I will often listen to it more than once and find it just as good or even better the second time. This is one of those books! Lots of action, secrets, spies, sleeper cells, horrific plots. In short, all the ingredients for an edge of your seat thriller. Not one I can listen to right before bed!
I enjoy this series about Lady Georgiana Rannoch, 35th in line for the British throne and Cousin to the queen. The characters are quite funny and consistently there is a murder which Lady Georgiana must figure out. This isn't a "heavy duty" thriller. Rather, it's light, funny and overall very entertaining. If you are thinking of downloading this book, start with the first one in the series and listen to all of them!
I got this book as part of the "first in a series" promotion Audible ran a while back. While I probably would not have downloaded it, I did enjoy it and will likely listen to more in the series. It's a solid 4 star thriller, held my attention well. Not edge of your seat can't put it down but a good listen.
This is a great series. Can't believe I'm already on book 26 in the series.
Lt. Eve Dallas has her work cut out for her with all the crazy homicides she encounters in this series. Each story follows several core characters while introducing new murder victims and killers. Can't get enough and hope new ones come out before I get to the end of the series.
An innocent Nepali girl, 13, lives with her family in a village far enough away from cities that she has never been to a city. She wants to go to "the city" to work as a housemaid, so when her stepfather sends her off with a woman, she believes she is going off to do housework. She's horrified to learn that she has been sold by her stepfather and is now part of the sex trade in India. It's a very sad tale, and although fictionalized it seems likely that this happens to many impoverished young girls.
This book took me a second try to really get interested. I'm so glad I gave it a second try as it turned out to be one of the best books I've found on Audible.
In the beginning of the story, a small girl is all alone on a dock in a place she doesn't recognize. A childless couple takes the girl in and raises her as their own, unaware of her origins. While the story is unfolding, the reader begins to wonder how the women in the story are linked (one in 1913, one in 1975 and one in 2005). By the end of the book all is clear and great mystery is resolved. This was a great listen and I look forward to listening to all of Kate Morton's books. Highly Recommend!
I enjoy the Cedar Cove tv series on Hallmark and found this book an excellent companion. Like most books which make it to TV or movies, there is just enough difference in the plot to make reading the book enjoyable. Very similar in tone to the television series. Light, romantic and fun. Plan to listen to more books in this series.
While not a fast-paced thriller, this novel was gripping nonetheless and kept me listening for hour upon hour. The author (an awesome storyteller) tells related stories from several vantage points and it's not until close to the end that you realize how they mesh. The main character is a young American girl who has distanced herself from her Jewish heritage. Seemingly by accident, she meets an old man who has a connection to one of her ancestors. He is tormented by guilt and asks her to help him. Several interesting characters and plot twists keep this novel moving at a good pace. Highly recommend.this listen.
Having listened to most of Catherine Coulter's novels, I of course decided to give this one a try and found it to be a very enjoyable listen. As are her others, it was fast-paced, thrilling and not too heavy. The female lead, Mike and the British cop are headed for something more than a professional relationship, clearly and that adds some romantic drama to this audible "page-turner". I will definitely download the next books in this series as they become available.
