Dr. Who to the rescue in this BBC radio production with sounds and music. A sound creature is killing people and it is up to the Dr. to capture or as a last resort kill the sound creature before it gets to everyone else including himself. Dose Dr. Who outsmart the entity???
Twenty-five years ago three young men made a decision that would forever change their lives. Now some old debts are to be paid back the hard way. Thugs and the mob are coming out of the woodwork now that some old rumors are being revisited surrounding a million dollar heist. Friends are not to be trusted and enemies may just save the day before all is said and done. A fast paced well written story topped off with good narration.
This book was a happy surprise, good, believable characters, and a good mystery mixed with a bit of paranormal. A tattoo artist along with some old friends try to find a serial killer through some unorthodox methods of tattooing and ghosts. I will look for more books from this author.
I don't normally go in for Zombie books but this got some very good review from people I follow and it was a Daily Deal, so what the heck. A young girl wakes up in a hospital with no memory of what happened to her and as the story unfolds she begins to think she is crazy. But with a new job and her hunger for drugs gone, she starts to realize that whatever this crazy is, may not be too bad. A fun read of her evolution as a White Trash Zombie.
A quick who done it that was pretty good and also a freebie from Audible. The age old story of a group of trapped people forced to play a game for their individual survival. Some of the killings were pretty abrupt and others were done with a little flair. Good narration that added to the book.
This mystery surrounds a whole town of people who don't know how they got there and know they can never leave. People can remember their lives before they ended up there but are strongly persuaded to go along and not make waves. No TV and only one occasional radio broadcast. Parents are not to ask or become involved with the children's schooling and many more strange things drive some to rebel in secret. Every now and then someone out of the blue, for no reason ends up dead in a public place with no suspects.
The chief of police is ex-FBI and has been let in on the secret, however, none of this sits right with him. A good second book that kind of leaves you hanging, but I am excited to see where the next book will take me. Good story and good narration.
Okay, so this is a hard review to write. SK is a master of verbiage and can bring us head first right into his stories, however, because I was expecting something scary, I give this a 3.5 and 4 for the narration. I had very high hopes, because it was an epic novel, that it would have had a lot more supernatural elements. The characters were believable and the writing was excellent right up until the end. The waiting for something to happen kept me non stop listening, but I was extremely puzzled by the lack of a strong ending, for me it was not on SK's weird level at all and IMHO a bit corny.
The premise was exciting and could have been amazing. If you are looking for a good story with an abundance of character development this may suit what you are looking for. Personally, I am looking forward to starting his Gunslinger series in a couple of months in hopes of getting my SK fix.
An escapee from Hell half angel is hired to be Lucifers body guard while he spends some time on earth. I thoroughly enjoyed the first of this series but found it hard to keep my attention on this story. There are plenty of monsters and zombies. I'm not really a zombie story fan, so I'm sure that's probably why it was not for me. The writing and story is good if this is up your alley. I was excited when I bought it as a Daily Deal.
I always love a new Georgiana (34th in line to the crown), adventure. In this addition someone is knocking off or trying to knock off people who are in line for the crown. Georgiana gets herself unwittingly into a little pickle with the the police and in order to save her from soiling her reputation and that of the Royal Family she becomes indented to the police and placed on a secret mission.
Great history of people and machinery are peppered through out and there is always a sweet secret romance for Georgiana and the ever elusive Mr. Darcey. A wonderfully, fun series that always has a good mystery and some good laughs.
Everything I have read by Michael Robotham has been outstanding and this was no exception. A fantastically spun story about the kidnapping of two teenage girls. There were no suspects for most of the book and then there were too many to make an educated guess. Another book I found hard to put down.
Joe O'Loughlin is a psychiatrist that is brought in to help the police profile and interrogate suspects. In the first book in this series "Suspect" he was quite a different character than he is in this addition, (book 5). I like the full bodied character that he developed into and will be reading more in this series. Excellent narration, with a perfect pace.
An epic that spans 50+ years that is written beautifully. I had a hard time putting this down because of the very realistic characters and the anticipated capture of a serial killer. The narration was spot on and reminded me a bit of my favorite, George Guidall. I won't reiterate the plot of the story, suffice to say I highly recommend this book to anyone that likes epics with a mystery background mixed with a bit of history. Adding this one to my favorites.
