The story kept repeating the description of the murder. The narrator cannot do male voices. It was predictable and started to lag towards the end.
The performer was unable to do male voices. Reed sounded snobby and bored. Some of her southern dialect is ok but for the most part, she almost made the book unbearable.
I loved the dialogue between the characters. I usually enjoy mysteries and detective series but I really enjoyed this easy, lighthearted book. It was fun. The narrator did a fantastic job.
I thought the narrator did a fabulous job! The only negative of the book was the mention of the "flying jennys" just one too many times.
12 year old girls
anyone...by the end of this book her nasal voice made me want to bite nails.
This book was a scientific review of the author's illness. It was boring and unemotional. If the intent was to share the promise of Heaven and a wonderful, loving God, he missed the mark.
I have recommended 'The Good House' to several of my family and friends. Awesome story.
Mary Beth Hurt was Hildy. She narrated perfectly with the same voice inflection I expected from Hildy.
Ann Leary perfectly captured the characters and traits of New Englanders in small coastal towns. I live in Rockport, MA and the story was so like so many people I know. There is nothing stuffy about The Good House, in fact, quite the opposite.
The narration was awesome. Mary Beth Hurt perfectly captured Hildy.
The story touched many emotions. I did not want it to end! This is the best book I have listened to since The Help.
But this book was great! Entertaining without being sappy. Great storyline and characters and the performance was very good.
This book was a big disappointment. It was written and read like a documentary about LA Gang wars. I am usually sad when a Harry Bosch book ends but this one was so dry and boring that I couldn't wait for the finish.
Stuart Woods first books were very good. I read all of them. The last few have been boring and lame. Son of Stone is ridiculously boring and lame. There is no story line...its a corny book about a stuffy man, a bonehead woman and their lame genius son. Yawn. Same tired characters, same tired story line. This is my last Stuart Woods book. He is obviously writing for the money, not for the story.
See above. The whole book is lame and boring.
The narrator sounds like an old NY cabbie. His portrayal of different characters would be comical if the material was interesting. His portrayal of Dino is awful. He sounds like the skit on Comedy Central where the two monkeys are talking in a bar.
All of them. I wasted my money.
Good-bye Stuart Woods.
