I like Patterson's writing - quick chapters, characters with depth, compelling charaters. This book held to his usual style. Not finishing a mystery book in one volume is pretty irratating, so I ranked it lower than most of works I have read lately.
Of course I will read the next book!
I liked the change in voices for the different characters. It added a lot to the story.
It's interesting to hear how the people in this small Italian village coped with the horrors and injustice of WWII. It really made you think about how everyday people lives were totally changed by an event that they had no control of.
I was amazed at the depth of social and medical information woven into a lovely story! Goofy title but a wonderful book.
I have been recommending this book. It is a thought provoking book you will recall for a long time.
This was a nice story with the writer and reader making it a very enjoyable Sunday afternoon experience. If you want a lot of complex characters, this isn't a book for you. However, if you just want a nice book about nice people in a beautiful area of the country, you can't do much better.
It's a little predictable, but that's OK if you just want a pleasant read without a lot of complexity.
The description of the stage coach ride! I would have never survived a ride in one.
My great-grandmother was a mail order bride, and I have often wondered how she ever left her home and family to marry a man she didn't know. This book gave a good perspective on how these young women coped with the changes in their lives.
I have recommended this audio lecture to others. It really makes you think about our place in the universe very differently.
