I fell in love with Joshilyn Jackson's writing after reading Gods in Alabama. I was worried about this one because I was afraid of being let down. No worries there! This is a great book. I look forward to reading more of her writing and love that she narrated this one and Between Georgia. I think she is the only one who could have brought her characters to life so perfectly.
Seriously not worth the time or credit. There was no plot and I can't understand how this made it through to be published. Just awful.
I love the complex characters that Joshilyn Jackson brought to life. They were very relateable and went beyond the surface layer you tend to see with "Chick Lit". This is NOT "Chick Lit".
This is a wonderful book and I look forward to reading more of Jackson's work.
I love Lisa Scottoline, but when I saw this one wasn't about lawyers (more importantly, not about Rosato & Associates *sniff, sniff*), I almost didn't purchase it. Since it has been so long since I have listened to one of her books, I bit the bullet and got this one.
I'm really glad I did. It is a slightly differnt path than she normally goes down, but I would have to say this was probably my favorite of all of her books - although I still want Rosato & Associates to come back soon!
Very entertaining and fun.
I love the Sofie Metropolis series, I really do, but this one was just kind of "eh". I think the narrator used on the previous books did such a great job (especially with the accents) but this one was not very good. Everytime she tried to read Rosie, I cringed -- instead of getting the plucky Puerto Rican's personality, we got something like a Russian/Oriental-esque accent. Don't even get me started on Jake. UGH. Please bring back the original narrator and continue to write these fun books. They are very entertaining, and I want to "see" what happens to Sofie, sans Allyson Ryan.
I listen to a ton of audiobooks -- but this one will forever rate at the bottom of my list. Do not waste your time, money, credits, or braincells on this one. I was stuck on a 6 hour car trip that seemed like 18 hours while listening to this book. HORRIBLE.
Very painful...not because of the content but because of how slow it is to get moving. By the time things got interesting, the book was over and you were left thinking "Huh...well ok."
Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez does a great job of letting the reader (or listener) have fun while also making you think. I love her books and this one did not disappoint!
