Award-winning author Craig Johnson's critically acclaimed debut Western mystery takes listeners to the breathtaking mountains of Wyoming for a tale of cold-blooded vengeance. Four high-school boys were given suspended sentences for raping a Cheyenne girl. Now, two of the boys have been killed, and only Sheriff Walt Longmire can keep the other two safe.

Dataman says: "Not Your Ordinary Western Novel (Series)"
    "Best New Mystery Author"
    Overall

This was the best "new read" I've had in a long, long time. The story was so well woven with native folklore and a good old fashioned mystery, with some spine tingling action. It kept me in rapt attention the entire time. I liked it so well that I am burning it to CD (12 of them) so my husband can "read" it as well. I have all three of this author's audio books, and I recommend listening to them in order. "The Cold Dish" first, then "Death without Company" and finally "Kindness Goes Unpunished".

Why we think it’s a great listen: The best book club you’ve never heard of – but will be eager to join, courtesy of a full cast of true characters. January 1946: London is emerging from the shadow of the Second World War, and writer Juliet Ashton is looking for her next book subject. Who could imagine that she would find it in a letter from a man she's never met, a native of the island of Guernsey, who has come across her name written inside a book by Charles Lamb....

What did you love best about The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society?

The flow of the story from present to past and back again.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society?

Learning of the hardships the residents had to deal with.

Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?

I loved them all. The characters were real and individuals each to me.

If you could rename The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, what would you call it?

I wouldn't rename it! What a tease it was to learn how it came to be and how it was named. The title is an integral part of the story.

    Any additional comments?

My mother lived in Manchester during the war. Her next door neighbors took in two girls from Guernsey. They only spoke French. My grandmother spoke French and frequently served as interpreter for their neighbor. My mother has told us many stories about what it was like to grow up during the war--being bombed every night, the blackouts, the lack of food, etc., but until we read this book together, she had forgotten those girls. Another story from my mother to share with my daughter and grandchildren.

Laine Tavish is an ordinary woman living an ordinary life in the small town of Angel's Gap, Maryland, as the proprietor of Remember When, an antique treasures and gift shop. At least, that's what everyone in Angel's Gap thinks. They have no idea that she used to be Elaine O'Hara, daughter of the notorious con man Big Jack O'Hara. Or that she grew up moving from place to place, one step ahead of the law.

Would you consider the audio edition of Remember When (includes 'Big Jack': In Death, Book 17.5) to be better than the print version?

I don't buy print version books anymore. It saves me room.

Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've listened to the first 22 books and to me each one is unique and equally good.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was laughing out loud-- glad I was alone!

    Any additional comments?

I'm absolutely hooked on the series. Love them all!

Topper is a hilarious, ribald comedy about a mild-mannered bank manager and two capricious ghosts, George and Marion Kerby, who make it their mission to rescue Topper from the drab "summer of suburban Sundays" that is his life.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Dont know. I guess I was expecting a story closer to the movies storyline. That's something not under Audible's control.

What could Thorne Smith have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

    Nothing.

What character would you cut from Topper?

    All the extra ghosts.

Before Stephanie can even step foot off Flight 127, Hawaii to Newark, she’s knee deep in trouble. Her dream vacation turned into a nightmare, and she’s flying back to New Jersey solo. Worse still, her seatmate never returned to the plane after the L.A. layover. Now he’s dead, in a garbage can, waiting for curbside pickup. His killer could be anyone. And a ragtag collection of thugs and psychos, not to mention the FBI, are all looking for a photograph the dead man was supposed to be carrying.

I don't buy books anymore. I enjoy listening much more than reading and the audio versions don't take up room!

What other book might you compare Explosive Eighteen to and why?

All 18 of the Stephanie Plum books are enjoyable. Just be careful where you listen because you WILL laugh out loud.

Which character – as performed by Lorelei King – was your favorite?

All the characterizations are unique. Lula is my favorite.

What secrets hide behind the razzle-dazzle of the entertainment industry? V.I. Warshawski is about to find out. Her friend, reporter Murray Ryerson, has just landed a plum job as host of a Global Entertainment network television show. On her way home from the party celebrating the event, V.I. stops to help a woman lying in the street. Her Good Samaritan act exposes dark truths, and suddenly V.I. finds herself playing a game she can only win by staying alive.

Ron says: "Excellence Marred By Poor Technology"
"Great story, not so great narrator"
    Overall

I really like Jean Smart as an actress, but her narrating skills need work. I think too much of the actress in her came out during the narration, and not enough of the story "reader". The book itself is slow starting, but even though I didn't like the narration, I had to finish listening.

Stephanie Plum may not be the best bounty hunter in beautiful downtown Trenton, but she's pretty darn good at turning bad situations her way...and she always gets her man. Her cousin Vinnie (who's also her boss) has posted bail on Samuel Singh, an illegal immigrant. When the elusive Mr. Singh goes missing, Stephanie is on the case. In a race against time that takes her from the Jersey Turnpike to the Vegas Strip, Stephanie Plum is on the chase of her life.

    Maxine says: "hilarious"
"Be careful of where you listen to this book"
    Overall

--you'll be laughing out loud at some parts. At least I did. I always enjoy sharing Stephanie's adventures and am looking forward to the next book already! (And don't listen to this book when you're hungry or you'll be searching the refrigerator for something to eat! Lula is on a diet that made my craving for fried chicken kick in.)
