I listen to a lot of books, there are several that I've stayed with for just a short time before I have to quit. This is one of those books that after 5 minutesI was so irritated by the narrator that I turned it off. I went through some of my other books that I've shelved and most of them were narrated by Scott Brick.
His tone is one in which puts you on the edge of your seat through every word spoken. He puts too much emphasis on every word and his enthusiasm is way over the top. I can just imagine him stomping around waving his arms while reading.
It was just too much for me. I won't be buying any more books narrated by him.
I really enjoyed this book. It was different than most thriller/mysteries in that several things were going on at once. The setting descriptions were expanisve, I could feel the cold, I could see the beautiful mountain ranges. I wanted to know what was going to happen. Very enjoyable.
I'm about 2/3 into this book and I can't do anymore. The characters are ridiculous, make unbelievable decisions, ho-hum I got shot in the leg. Nobody does the right thing, even when they are federal judges and decide that he's just going to keep a little girt that needs serious help. I started to think this book might be for young readers because the language is quite juvenile. I've never read anything by Coulter before, and I won't waste my money again. I just kept saying out loud, "What? You've got to be kidding". It's a good plot, but totally unrealistic. Really, really bad book.
Just a great story. Excellent character development and I just couldn't wait to get back to them. I enjoy time period novels espeically about our dark history of slavery. The story drew me in and I was sorry when iit ended. Well worth the credit!
