The stories are a bit lame at best. Some I had to fast forward before I threw out my player!

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

cliche's abound in this story!. Story is so predictatble it's not worth going to the end. This is simple a romance novel trying hard to be something else. Use your points or $$$ to buy soemthing else.But- on the good side it is not full of profanity or expilct sex. Nice to be be able to listen soemthing that is not assaulting you with garbage.Soft enough to suggest to older teens.

What didn’t you like about Nick Podehl’s performance?

He shouldn't give up his day job. he needs to work on accents that add to a story not detract. His Arabic accent sounds like a a drunken Russian.

What character would you cut from Behind the Lies?

Get rid of all the brothers!

You are a secret agent working for the British in Berlin. You are due to go home on leave, but you are being followed by the enemy - or your own people. A man meets you in the theater and briefs you on a plot to revive the power of Nazi Germany. You do not believe him, but you remember that one of the suspects mentioned was a senior SS officer you met while you were working as a spy in Nazi Germany. Next, you make contact with a beautiful girl who may know something. Someone tries to kill both of you.

What disappointed you about The Quiller Memorandum?

How many Nazi conspiracy theories and stories can you write after 60 years? I can't seem to get past the concept that every Nazi that was alive is now dead or really old. Writing a new story about a very old concept just doesn't make it even in a spy thriller.

Did Simon Prebble do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Narrator does fine as he always does. Unfortunately the story just doesn't carry me past five minutes of listening.

What character would you cut from The Quiller Memorandum?

Are antihero or hero or whatever he is just doesn't seem to cut it. His character is pretty soft.

Winter of the World picks up right where the first book left off, as its five interrelated families - American, German, Russian, English, Welsh - enter a time of enormous social, political, and economic turmoil, beginning with the rise of the Third Reich, through the Spanish Civil War and the great dramas of World War II, up to the explosions of the American and Soviet atomic bombs. As always with Ken Follett, the historical background is brilliantly researched and rendered, the action fast-moving, the characters rich in nuance and emotion.

In a scrap heap within an abandoned factory, the greatest invention in history lies dormant and unused. By what fatal error of judgment has its value gone unrecognized, its brilliant inventor punished rather than rewarded for his efforts? In defense of those greatest of human qualities that have made civilization possible, one man sets out to show what would happen to the world if all the heroes of innovation and industry went on strike.

What could Ayn Rand have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Had a more demanding editor! That conrtolled her ramblings.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Scott Brick?

Brick is the best. He has never failed to present a story in the best possible way. If he performs, I listen.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Atlas Shrugged?

How about 75% f the book?

Winner of the Quill Award and the Corine International Book Prize, Diana Gabaldon is the #1 New York Times best-selling author of the Outlander series. This fourth novel featuring popular character Lord John Grey is told both from Lord Grey’s perspective and from that of Jamie Fraser, the star of the Outlander series.

Take out the trashgo back to the what made her previous stories so compelling.

What was most disappointing about Diana Gabaldon’s story?

From nearly the first paragraph, Ms. G has traded in here standards and gone down a path of perversion and trash. Too bad, I so much enjoyed her earlier writings.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

"From the devastating surprise attack on Pearl Harbor to America’s first bold counterstrike against the Japanese on the beaches of Guadalcanal, this compelling story takes you to the front lines of victory and defeat - and into the very heart of courage, loyalty, and valor. It is a heroic story of pride and passion you will never forget.... Griffin’s books are distinguished by their high action and suspense, his dashing irreverence toward high command, and his clear picture of war and its wartime leaders.” (The Florida Times-Union)

    What disappointed you about Counterattack?

Lots of character development over hours and hours of reading, but no real story to match the title. Counter attack? 20 minutes of action out of the 15+ what more can I say, Don't waste a momoment. A great disapointment from a good author.

Has Counterattack turned you off from other books in this genre?

Genre. I coundn't tell what genre it was. Action, WWII, history, soap opera none really fit the bill.

How could the performance have been better?

Narrator did fine with a really boring story line. I think I heard even the narrator yawn a few times while trying to get this story read!

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Counterattack?

What part does a detailed sex scenes have to do with mounting a counter attack against the Japanese? Maybe all that sex sells other stories but I am not interested in reading about how horny ever soldier (our fathers!) were before going off to war.

    Any additional comments?

Why can't reviewer actually provide better synopsis of books. I will be more cautious next time I read WEB book!

What would have made Defending Jacob better?

A diiferent story line all together. This was like sitting in court room and being forced to sit on hard benches and listen to a whining lawyer. Very boringly painful!

What do you think your next listen will be?

Nothing by this author sad to say.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Whining inflections, lack of voice control for the differing personas, it hurt so much I gave up after the second hour of listening. Unless you really like fingernails on the chalk board....

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Story -- narative-- setting-- none of this was worth a penny!

    Any additional comments?

Don't waste a cent or credit! I've listened to 100+ audio books and this was absolutely the worst. Where do I go to get my money back?
