  • Impact

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 43 mins)
    • By Douglas Preston
    • Narrated By Scott Sowers
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

A brilliant meteor lights up the Maine coast and two young women borrow a boat and set out for a distant island to find the impact crater. A scientist at the National Propulsion Facility discovers an inexplicable source of gamma rays in the outer Solar System. He is found decapitated, the data missing.High resolution NASA images reveal an unnatural feature hidden in the depths of a crater on Mars and it appears to have been activated. Sixty hours and counting.

    adam says: "Not good"
    "I can't recommend it."

Listened to the whole thing, parts were entertaining and intense, but disgustingly violent in some sections, and ... the characters were more caricatures then anything in some/most places. I got to the end and it was a lot of drama for not much payoff.

  • Spin Selling

    • ABRIDGED (3 hrs)
    • By Neil Rackham
    • Narrated By Bob Kalomeer

With wit and authority, Neil Rackham explains why traditional sales models don't work for large sales. He shows how conventional selling methods are doomed to fail in major sales. And he unfolds the enormously successful Spin strategy, using real-world examples and informative cases. The methods are controversial, and they often go against the grain of conventional sales training. But the powerful evidence Rackham presents will convince and convert you.

    Konstantin says: "Not exactly practical"
    "I don't get it."

Also known as how to trick people. I'm sorry, I am open to learning new things but the book is written with no integrity and the narrator is pure torture. Don't waste your time, do something you love and tell others why you love it and believe in it. Life is too short.

  • The Drunkard's Walk: How Randomness Rules Our Lives

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 19 mins)
    • By Leonard Mlodinow
    • Narrated By Sean Pratt

In this irreverent and illuminating audiobook, acclaimed writer and scientist Leonard Mlodinow shows us how randomness, chance, and probability reveal a tremendous amount about our daily lives, and how we misunderstand the significance of everything from a casual conversation to a major financial setback. As a result, successes and failures in life are often attributed to clear and obvious causes, when in actuality they are more profoundly influenced by chance.

Joshua Kim says: "Very Very Smart"
"Among the best I have listened to. 10 out of 10"

If you have ANY interest in events, how and why they happen, and how are (mis)understanding of the forces that shape those events occur then you will LOVE this book!

  • A Prisoner of Birth

    • UNABRIDGED (16 hrs and 24 mins)
    • By Jeffrey Archer
    • Narrated By Roger Allam
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

One evening, Danny, an East End cockney who works as a garage mechanic, takes his girlfriend up to the West End to celebrate their engagement. He crosses the path of Spencer Craig, a West End barrister tipped to be the youngest Queen's Counsel of his generation. A few hours later Danny is arrested for murder and later is sentenced to 22 years in prison.

Ant the Limey says: "His best since before he went to prison"
    "You people can't be serious."

What a bore. Unless you want to spend 10 chapters in a make believe English jail don't waste your time. I just feel that this would be a good short story. Revenge... who cares ... more importantly how to get revenge for this book.

  • Brain Rules: 12 Principles for Surviving and Thriving at Work, Home, and School

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 40 mins)
    • By John J. Medina
    • Narrated By John J. Medina

Most of us have no idea what's really going on inside our heads. Yet brain scientists have uncovered details every business leader, parent, and teacher should know - such as the brain's need for physical activity to work at its best. How do we learn? What exactly do sleep and stress do to our brains? Why is multi-tasking a myth? Why is it so easy to forget - and so important to repeat new information? Is it true that men and women have different brains?

Beenre says: "My favorite book for students."
    "repetitive, repetitive, repetitive"

go to for an outline of this chapter... because.. the points are oh so complex... like .... sleep helps you remember better... and for a whole chapter ... stress make you remember less .... for a whole chapter ... and the breakthrough chapter .... men and women are different... I write this for my friends that love a good audible book ... and get to the point where you start skipping after 30 seconds of each chapter ... don't forget the breakthrough ... interesting things are easier to remember ...... ugh! another wasted credit!!

  • Spin

    • UNABRIDGED (17 hrs and 33 mins)
    • By Robert Charles Wilson
    • Narrated By Scott Brick

One night when he was 10, Tyler stood in his backyard and watched the stars go out. They flared into brilliance, then disappeared, replaced by an empty black barrier. He and his best friends, Jason and Diane Lawton, had seen what became known as the Big Blackout. It would shape their lives.

    Robert says: "A Classic"
"If you find yourself bored it's not getting better"

I love all Sci-Fi. This started out interesting. Than got and stayed boring. It finished with disappointing. Try it if you want but if you find it gets boring give it up.

  • God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 51 mins)
    • By Christopher Hitchens
    • Narrated By Christopher Hitchens
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

In the tradition of Bertrand Russell's Why I Am Not a Christian and Sam Harris' recent best-seller, The End of Faith, Christopher Hitchens makes the ultimate case against religion. With a close and erudite reading of the major religious texts, he documents the ways in which religion is a man-made wish, a cause of dangerous sexual repression, and a distortion of our origins in the cosmos.

ben capozzi says: "...Though Hitchens Is!"
    "a GREAT listen !!!"

I have listened to many audible books. This is one of the best reads I have heard. Now, some people don't like read by the author, but I really want to hear the meaning behind the words. If is a great listen and it you have an interest in the myth of religion it is a great was to get the information. It is great to hear this information again (ie. Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins) juet in case you have a talk with a rational person.

    • Narrated By Glenn Harrold

This superb, high-quality hypnotherapy program by the UK's best-selling hypnotherapist, Glenn Harrold, combines powerful clinical hypnotherapy techniques with state-of-the-art digital recording technology.

    ddsharper says: "Great, Relaxing, Effective"
    "An excellent hypnosis tape"

I just found this hypnosis tape to be so well done and easy to listen to. I am always looking for ways to improve my mental functioning and I just feel that the positive messages and influences imbeded in this recording are doing just that. I think it is worth I try, I have spent a lot more on simple books of memory tricks that didn't really make a qualitative difference. I would try it.
