Thoroughly enjoyable, very well done and executed --- now I need season three NOW !!!!
entertaining but dales books are much better when the detail is included - ie unabridged
an engaging trip in a modified B52 - detail was lacking in places but still a cracking good listen
Geoffrey Wellum - WWII fighter pilot in Spits tells it as it is .. absolutely compelling read [or listen]. The real Geoffrey Wellum lives on in Devon England - even drives the same make of car as me - a Rover 75:) If you like true accounts of the Battle of Britain and flying Spitfires you have to listen to this.
Ignoring the story and the naff English accent that made me smile it was that bad [but I smiled in a nice way ] and the unlikeliness of the plot have to say this was captivating for the action moments - normally I just listen in the car but this got played out at home too ... so now I need a new book :( If you like naval militay action and suspense this is a MUST
Would make a great movie this would - thoroughly enjoyed it: A compelling work of fiction - all good
Absolutely brilliant - relationship bit in middle went on a bit - more suited to visual movie I think - but just riveting all the same ... if you like military aircraft and ops this is for you !!
Takes you to the front line - the description of the D-Day landing is totally engaging and leaves you in no doubt as to the true despair and horror of that place as well as the courage and spirit of the men who fought and died there
Very nice story with some interesting turns - part 1 has silly noises between acts, [and its annoying] that disappear in part two. Still that was radio of the day so ... thoroughly enjoyable.
I love Michael Moorcok - but the narration for this was just all wrong wrong wrong - I gave up
