Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning? In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Teddy says: "The Book Deserves The Hype"
    "What's all the hype about?"
    Overall

I forced myself to listen to the whole book but I still don't understand what all the hype is about. There is absolutely nothing new here - it is highly derivative of many other older novels (admittedly combined in a somewhat new way). I found myself predicting pretty close to exactly how scenes were going to play out long before they occurred.

In summary, it's not bad but there's nothing here to justify the hype.

Published almost 10 years ago, Guilty Pleasures marked the debut of a writer who was destined to grow from cult favorite to a major bestselling author. Now, for long-time Anita Blake aficionados and newfound fans, Guilty Pleasures makes its debut in downloadable audio

    "Great book - bad audiobook"
    Overall

The early Anita Blake books are great (the later ones are sadly nothing but porn).

However, this audiobook is one of the worst I've listened to from Audible. There are highly annoying music/sound effects (more like noise) randomly placed behind the narration. The narrator's accents change for the same character throughout the book (sometimes subtly and sometimes egregiously (ex Ronnie starts out with a thick brogue-ish accent (wrong for the character) and later loses it)).
