  • Hegemony or Survival: America's Quest for Global Dominance

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 42 mins)
    • By Noam Chomsky
    • Narrated By Brian Jones, Noam Chomsky

For more than half a century, the United States has been pursuing a grand imperial strategy with the aim of staking out the globe. Our leaders have shown themselves willing, as in the Cuban missile crisis, to follow the dream of dominance no matter how high the risks. Now the Bush administration is intensifying this process, driving us toward the final frontiers of imperial control, toward a choice between the prerogatives of power and a livable Earth.

Jazz Listener says: "Great book, lousy reader"
"Great Leftist blame America first rhetoric"

If you hate this country and want to listen to others of the same mind set then this is a fantastic book! Otherwise Treason by Ann Coulter would be a better suggestion.

  • Warbreaker

    • UNABRIDGED (24 hrs and 46 mins)
    • By Brandon Sanderson
    • Narrated By James Yaegashi

An author whose previous, wildly successful novels have earned him a reputation as fantasy's master of magic, Brandon Sanderson continues to dazzle audiences with this tale of princesses and gods. In this extraordinary world, those who attain glory return as gods. And those who can master the essence known as breath can perform the most wondrous miracles - or unleash the most devastating havoc.

Robert says: "What's Your god like?"
    "Enjoyed it!"

It was very different but very interesting! There are some minor similarities to other books, but if you like Sanderson I'd recommend this one

  • The Tehran Initiative

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 58 mins)
    • By Joel C. Rosenberg
    • Narrated By Christopher Lane
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

The world is on the brink of disaster. Iran has just conducted its first atomic weapons test. Millions of Muslims around the world are convinced their messiah — known as the Twelfth Imam — has arrived on earth. Israeli leaders fear Tehran, under the Twelfth Imam’s spell, will soon launch a nuclear attack that could bring about a second Holocaust and the annihilation of Israel.

Susan says: "Rosenberg does it again - couldn't put it down!"
"Interesting Plot but way to much Jesus!"
What did you like best about The Tehran Initiative? What did you like least?

Interesting plot with present day parallels but too much Jesus in it.

Would you recommend The Tehran Initiative to your friends? Why or why not?

If they are a religious Christian, definitely, otherwise too preachy

What about Christopher Lane’s performance did you like?

    Good Narration and accents

Could you see The Tehran Initiative being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

  • One Second After

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 21 mins)
    • By William R. Forstchen
    • Narrated By Joe Barrett
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Already cited on the floor of Congress and discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a book all Americans should read, One Second After is the story of a war scenario that could become all too terrifyingly real. Based upon a real weapon - the Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) - which may already be in the hands of our enemies, it is a truly realistic look at the awesome power of a weapon that can destroy the entire United States.

    Sara says: "A terrifying story"
"Excellent book regarding a pretty scarry threat!"

I could not stop listening. This is a threat that I was somewhat familiar with, but had never really thought hard about. The subject matter is presented as part of a riveting story, plot and characters.

I recommend this book to anyone that likes good fiction, and especially if you want to know more about what an EMP attack could do to our society.
