This 'book' is not a book nor a story, it's a speech she gave about how to get real with ourselves by becoming vulnerable. Brene delivers a powerful, practical, helpful, enlightening, and a highly entertaining speech. She has the ability to connect with people and it's clearly her gift. The subject matter I found very interesting and thought-provoking. This 'book' was so profoundly moving that I enjoyed every minute and I'm on my 3rd time now. I'm sure it's one of those great reads that I will put down for awhile and come back to again later. It changed my life by challenging me to become more honest, open, and authentic. I've recommended this book to countless family/friends and I've listed to her TED talk, I've bought a few of her other books (print), but for me this one was the best and the best format to have it in, do yourself a favor and buy this book!
This book was great, I enjoyed it often and frequently and left all my other books alone once I started it. Lots of other reviews guided me to this audiobook and I would recommend it to basically anyone but perhaps you'd be more likely to enjoy it if you like futuristic stories with cool technology, games or virtual reality. For me I was disappointed when it was over so I will probably listen to this again sometime in the future.
This book lends itself well to the audio format and although I didn't enjoy every aspect of the performance (the narrator's emphasis or when switching to a female character kind of annoyed me) it didn't really detract from my overall enjoyment of the story. A good first foray for someone else into the genre and I highly recommend this book to anyone of any age. I just finished and may have slightly preferred Ready Player One but this one was also right up my alley. Go for it!
