Accident victim Faith Parker has done what her doctors feared she never would: awakened from the coma that held her prisoner for weeks. But she has no memory of the crash that nearly killed her - or the life that led up to it. Nor does she remember journalist Dinah Leighton, the steadfast friend who visited her in the hospital...until she disappeared without a trace.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The ending. It was rather interesting until the end. Utterly unbelievable. I can go along with psychic powers, in fact it makes the book unique. But this was over the limit of my enjoyment with a story. Also the emotions portrayed were way over-blown.

This story goes into sci-fi, which I do not enjoy.

Would you ever listen to anything by Kay Hooper again?

Yes, up to now her books have been enjoyable.

What about Alyssa Bresnahan’s performance did you like?

She was the best part of the book.

What character would you cut from Hiding in the Shadows?

The characters were fine, and should have stayed that way.

    Any additional comments?

I guess I have been lucky with Kay Hooper's books because I have enjoyed them immensely. I have one more I haven't listened to yet, then I must decide if I want to use credits on any more of her books.

Jacobia "Jake" Tiptree's leisurely summer dreams involve rebuilding the front porch of her Maine fixer-upper and shingling the leaky tool shed out back. That's why she's hired the avenging angel of household hygiene, Bella Diamond, to keep her house--and her teenage son Sam--in tip-top shape. But when Bella confides in Jake that she's been receiving death threats, Jake has two choices: find out who is frightening the hapless housekeeper--or risk losing her.

I think this will be the last book I buy from this series. I just don't like most of the characters any more. The son is a jerk. The ex-girlfriend has no self-respect, the main character, Jacobia, violates people's rights without a qualm. and without retribution. Only the ex-husband, Victor, seems to have any personality. And the clincher is that both Victor and Jacobia were born with the last name of Tiptree. yeah, right.

The plots used to be fun and interesting but now even I can figure it out before Jacobia.

In Israel, a man clutching a backpack searches desperately for a boat. In Minnesota, Virgil Flowers gets a message from Lucas Davenport: You're about to get a visitor. It's an Israeli cop, and she's tailing a man who's smuggled out an extraordinary relic - a copper scroll revealing startling details about the man known as King Solomon. Wait a minute, laughs Virgil. Is this one of those Da Vinci Code deals? The secret scroll, the blockbuster revelation, the teams of murderous bad guys? Should I be boning up on my Bible verses? He looks at the cop. She's not laughing.

The story was good, but many of the characters had conflicting loyalties and at times it was hard to keep them straight. Eric Conger is great, as usual, but I wish both he and Richard Ferrone, who reads Lucas Davenport, would ask someone from the mid-west how to pronounce crappies, bratwurst & lilacs.

Contemporary romance fans hold a special place in their hearts for New York Times bestselling author Robyn Carr’s Virgin River novels—set in a quiet town nestled deep in California Redwood territory. The 17th entry in the series, Hidden Summit stars Leslie Petruso and Conner Danson, two people burned by love and ready to give up on the whole proposition. But the chemistry between them is impossible to deny, and if everyone in town can see it, why can’t they?

Not the best in the series. I should have counted how many times the phrase "are you sure?" was said.

I enjoyed the story. But the reader was overly enthusiastic with her dialect. I had trouble understanding the words when locals from the area spoke, especially the father. The words were extremely louder than everyone else, plus they were slurred together as to make it gibberish.

The book would have been more enjoyable with a different reader.

In Ava’s dreams, her son, Noah, looks just the way she remembers him: a sweet two-year-old in rolled-up jeans and a red sweatshirt. When Ava wakes, the agonizing truth hits her all over again. Noah went missing two years ago, and his body has never been found. Almost everyone, including Ava’s semi-estranged husband, Wyatt, assumes the boy drowned after falling off the dock near their Church Island home. Ava has spent most of the past two years in and out of Seattle mental institutions, shattered by grief and unable to recall the details of Noah’s disappearance.

I did not like this book. Maybe because the story was over 17 hours long and could have been told in 5 hours. Very redundant, and far-fetched. There were so many good reviews - I guess it's just not my kind of book.

John Meagher was an excellant reader. Not many men can get the female voice to sound believable but he did. I was also able to distinguish between the male voices. Nice.

The story line was interesting but I felt it had too much anti-matter information. It was better when the info-lectures were over and they returned to the plot.

I probably will not buy another book in this series due to the over-loading of information not vital to the plot. But we'll see.

The story line and the performance were outstanding, but the writing was so slow. I guess I'm not a patient person but everything took so long to be told. It was very tempting to fast-forward and I did that a couple times. But then there's the chance of missing something significant.

This was my first book of this series. I'm not sure I'll get another one.

I listened to half the book before I realized I was totally wasting my time. I don't like any of the people in this story and I really don't care what happens to them. If I tried, maybe I could muster up some 'like' for Deke. As much as I dislike tossing my money out the window, I'd rather not waste my time. So I am leaving this book unfinished.

But eventually, troubled people come to Precious with a variety of concerns. Potentially philandering husbands, seemingly schizophrenic doctors, and a missing boy who may have been killed by witch doctors all compel Precious to roam about in her tiny van, searching for clues.

I don't understand all the good ratings. I am totally bored with this book. The reader is good, but there is no mystery, no 'detecting'. If I had wanted just a fiction book about Africa this would be the one. But I wanted a mystery to solve.

And to make matters worse for me, I purchased 3 of these series books before I listened to the first one. I don't make that mistake anymore.
