I enjoyed Damascus Count Down very much. Joel Rosenberg is a very good storyteller and when you mix in the fact that he is an expert of the Middle Eastern culture, it gets very exciting.
yes, This book started out slow, but picked up and developed into a good story.
I liked the scene when the bear came up to the house and they rescued the dog from it at their own peril.
I didn't care a lot for the main character, he went from mysterious to nice to extremely controlling back to nice in a blink and gave the fact he was a cop as the reason.... Lame. I like his girl friend, independent, self sufficient and yet very tender.
I like to listen to all my books that way! But, this one stretched out and that was ok. It took some time to develop the characters.
A little different from Nora Roberts usual. She usually snags you from the get go but not this time, but the ending was good and I was surprised as to who the 'villain' was.
I can not compare the audio and print as I have only listened to it.
Jacob of course as he was there from the beginning to the end..To watch a young innocent grow to a man that did what he had to do to live and yet keep who he was made me feel so proud of his character and soul.
Actually, at the end when they went to Poland for the 70 year anniversary. To overcome such odds is inspiring.
Trials and tribulations. Standing on your beliefs yet recognizing you need companionship.
Going to the gnomes and being accepted.
He is a good narrator. I have come to enjoy the audible books more than just reading as it comes to life for me.
Just enjoyed the bonding of different species and their loyalties.
One gripe I have is the volume. It goes up and down a lot. I have to keep adjusting the volume and it is annoying. Not to mention cumbersome when I am driving down the road.
Grows on you
It took a bit to get all the background of the story but it is a series and as the story goes on, it gets better and better. It is dark and cruel but our hero emerges and there is hope.
I think when Zack and Drizzt's last 'fight'. They come to the knowledge of what they are to each other and it is touching.
Yes, when Drizzt and his cat leave, they leave as friends together. Doesn't sound like much, but in their world, friendship and loyalty to one another is unheard of.
I actually listened to this a couple of times before I really got into the story but am glad I took the time. I will continue the series.
I had this author recommended to me so this is my first book of hers that I have read. I must admit that I was expecting a shallow, typical read of sci-fi. I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed her story telling. The ending was not what I expected and I must say that I just enjoyed her book. I will buy more!
Very good story. Very well made. I will get the next one in the series. So true to our day today.
I am not sure if I liked the story or not, the narrator kept getting in the way. His sucking his teeth and heavy breathing was very distracting. I kept trying to figure out if his British accent was real or not. I should have listened to it first and I would not have wasted my money.
It passed the kid test. It was enjoyed, what more can you say?
You can always count on Tom Clancy for a good story. He is knowledgeable and thorough.
I always enjoy reading Frank Peretti. This was a bit long but the ending was good
