In his final hours in the Oval Office, the outgoing President grants a controversial last-minute pardon to Joel Backman, a notorious Washington power broker who has spent the last six years hidden away in a federal prison. What no one knows is that the President issues the pardon only after receiving enormous pressure from the CIA. It seems Backman, in his power broker heyday, may have obtained secrets that compromise the world's most sophisticated satellite surveillance system.

    "One star too many"
    Overall

Eagerly anticipating the release of The Broker, I purchased it before any reviews were available. Unless his next novel is free I won't read it and I STRONGLY recommend that you (the reviewer) do not fall prey to those who give this book any credit. I find that a more appropriate title would have been "Boring Broker Learns Italian on the Bleachers". Mr. Grisham please go back and read your earlier work (up to and including The Summons) and find your way back, please! If you (the reviewer) have never read Grisham before do not start here. As I suggested to Mr. Grisham read his early work, it's 5 stars!

Mary DiNunzio gets a terrifying telephone call while she's working late, then goes home to find a shadow lurking at her front door. When a lawyer close to her turns up dead, Mary begins to suspect that the case she's been working on, involving the suicide of an Italian-American in an internment camp during World War II, may not be ancient history after all.

Since the pickings have been slim, and I had been awaiting this book's release to Audible, I was very excited to download this title. I cannot say I was disappointed, but I also cannot say I was satisfied. I will say, however, that in hindsight, I would have waited & picked another title. I give this book a three-star rating. It doesn't hold a candle to Scottoline's previous work.

The description here on Audible, doesn't do this book justice. It was while I was at a bookstroe that I read the cover of the book (or rather the jacket) and found out how good it sounded. I came right home and began listening to it. Great Ending!!

Nothing in Cree's experience as a Harvard-trained clinical psychologist or as a paranormal investigator has prepared her for Tommy Keeday's case. A talented young Navajo, Tommy has recently been exhibiting bizarre symptoms that his family believes are signs of possession by a chindi, a hostile spirit. As Cree struggles to find answers, she becomes increasingly aware that Tommy and the people who surround him have some deep and disturbing secrets.

I discovered City of Masks and was unable to stop listening. Now Cree Black (and friends) are back in this Land of Echoes. I only hope and pray the author is busy writing another installment in this series as I type this. This book is paranormal suspense at its finest! Kudos to Cree - a fresh, new character on the scene with so many more cases to be solved. I will be up late at night listening and experiencing the paranormal plot as it thickens. I find myself so engrossed in the book that the hours fly by. A must read.

Daniel Hecht has created a plausible, heart-stopping ghost thriller. Relying on the science of parapsychology to spine-tingling effect, he brings to life a remarkably compelling character in Cree Black, as well as the ghosts she confronts.

What a great find. I was on what was seeming to be a dead end search for a great audio book. Even good would do. Well, determination kept me going and what I found was a great author and a FRESH new character that I have no doubt will find her way to the new and notable category. And, thanks to the reviews from other readers I was able to make my decision without regret. This book truly spooked me. I HIGHLY recommend it to all mystery readers.

You have lost your touch, please get it back. You are one of the all time best legal-thriller authors, but you let me down lately and especially with this book. It's not that it isn't a good book, it is, but you write GREAT books and it isn't a great book. If I had to chose between this book and James Patterson's 3rd Degree, sorry John, but James wins! The Summons was the last great grisham.

Except by himself! This third installment in the Ladies Murder Mystery Club is a sure fire winner! Bravo James (oh and Andrew LOL). Alex Cross has always been my favorite, however these Ladies are most worthy of Alex Cross' company. You must read (listen) to this book right now!
