On the streets of Washington, D.C., a brilliant scientist, the brains behind a revolutionary fighter aircraft prototype in development by the Pentagon, is snatched by masked thugs and disappears. Now five years later, an elderly professor at Cambridge University has been murdered, a victim of bizarre, ancient Chinese torture. Alex Hawke teams up with Scotland Yard former Chief Inspector Ambrose Congreve to find the killer, but this death is merely the opening gambit in a tense and lethal game of geopolitical brinksmanship.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The past few books have become less plausible. Additionally, there is too much useless detail and fluff, and then the villain is killed off so easily at the end. You could probably make a drinking game out of every time the phrase "zeiss binoculars" is used.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Really liked this book. Author does not waste time talking about obvious conflicts the main is likely having.

After losing his leg to a land mine in Afghanistan, Cormoran Strike is barely scraping by as a private investigator. Then John Bristow walks through his door with an amazing story: his sister, the legendary supermodel Lula Landry, famously fell to her death a few months earlier. The police ruled it a suicide, but John refuses to believe that. The case plunges Strike into the world of multimillionaire beauties, rock-star boyfriends, and desperate designers, and it introduces him to every variety of pleasure, enticement, seduction, and delusion known to man.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

maybe it is a literary device that i am not familiar with, but the tempo of the book keeps changing from interesting to boring. Hard to focus on listening during the long drawn out parts.

    Overall

Was this really written by Koontz? It is not like any of his other work. no suspense. no eeriness. no flow of events. no surprise. listened to the end and was left with a "that is it" feeling. Other Koontz books are quite entertaining. try them. DEFINITELY SKIP THIS ONE.
