I loved this listen. It was informative and entertaining. What I really liked was that it covered world history fairly completely both in terms of specific incedents in time but also tracked trends across time. There were a few points that were a bit drawn out but, on the whole, well done!
I enjoyed it! There were many readers and I was initially leery but I was pleasantly surprised. The ending is a tad anti-climatic but otherwise a riveting story.
Too much effort was put into making this a dramatic work. The music and the reader's voice inflections were just over the top. Also, for the Biblical hardliners, this NIV version had a bit of politically correct editing done to it. Not my taste.
I was really looking forward to this book and was sadly disappointed. It took a while for me to catch on to what it was that made this so dull. Finally I figured it out: the author made his point early on, and then went on to make the same point over and over and over. It felt as if someone, perhaps the publiser, was pushing for more bulk and the chapters were stretched out with repetetive fluff. I am a vetern of many audio books and this is the first one I just stopped listening to!
I actually listened to this twice, several years apart. Wonderful! The story is captivating and the characters are believable. It is intricate but deffinately not boring. It does require one to pay attention though and is not suited for "background noise" listening. I recommend it to all!
