Thin story. Seems to go on and on and it become a rehash. Should be limited to one rather than six hours.
Endless, rather dismal courtroom non-drama. A really ickky element of pornography on which the story is based. Let's go on to the next book.
Squeeky-voiced narrator telling rambling, disjointed facts. Decide for yourself if you're going to try the book!
Overwrought. Unbelievable situations. End result is exhaustingly silly. But still very good characters and characterizations.Try again, Ms. Kaewert. I'm still your fan.
Characters rich and substantial. Language marvelous. But the murders are getting old. Would be welcome to have all of Simon Brett's engaging characters in another sort of story.
Highly recommended listen! A kind of minor British author with lots of books. This is the only one recorded so far. Frederick Davidson's upper-class voice is a perfect match. The story is complex and the ending very, very unexpected. Characters elegant, carefully drawn. This book will evoke plenty of sympathy, empathy, and, of course, disgust (at the end) thrown in. Give it a try!
What a wonderful series but this one. The elegant author becomes ickky. Worth a skip and on to the next.
I remember reading this book years ago and rather liking it. Listening is another matter. Seems to jump around a lot, no full telling of any story. Maybe its best to just remember how nice something was in the past and enjoy nostalgia and save credits!
Awful. Awful. A fine writer who is completely disorganized. Skips from topic to topic, era to ear and back again. What a shame. The reader is just fine but that doesn't' compensate for a truly terrible mess of a book.
A nice Jewish history book written with information about Yiddish as the common thread. Well worth the listen.
