The U.S. Speaker of the House is assassinated in a terrifyingly precise execution in the heart of Washington, D.C. In a quieter corner of the nation's capital, the rare book room of the Library of Congress, a reclusive, wealthy scholar drops dead under mysterious circumstances that leave no clues. Following on the heels of the natural death of the Speaker of the House, the city and the nation begin to tremble.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Collectors to be better than the print version?

I love Audio books because I don't have time to read the print book. I love Audio books because I can listen to a good book while I do hours of data entry. I love Audio books because I can listen in bed when I can't sleep. Not interested in buying the same story twice in two formats, what a silly idea??

What did you like best about this story?

I love the Misfit Four! They make a wonderfully nosy bunch of accidental heros! I really like the quiet way they go about righting wrongs even when they have to deal with bodies. Adding Annabel to the story is a real interesting move that I hope only adds to the excitement. Sometimes, it breaks up the team but I suspect she'll only add spice.

    Any additional comments?

    I want the whole series!!!

A journey of 167,000 lights years begins with...a bar of soap? Fasten your zero gravity restraints for Robert Heinlein's novel of intergalactic adventure, a story that carries teenager Clifford "Kip" Russell from his job as soda jerk to space-suit winner to alien abductee! Along the way Kip is joined by a pint-sized genius named Peewee and an empathetic alien creature known as "the Mother Thing."

If you could sum up Have Space Suit, Will Travel in three words, what would they be?

    Rollicking Good Fun

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved the spacesuit. Without it, Kip couldn't have gone to space & wouldn't have rescued PeeWee. I love the way it talked back to Kip too.

What about Will McAuliffe and the Full Cast Family ’s performance did you like?

A full cast is soooo much nicer than one actor. Some people - my hubby - have problems visualizing characters but have no problems with voices. They did a great job!!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I remember being so shocked that Earth was found guilty.

    Any additional comments?

This is a great kid/teen book. Heinlein 's young adult books have always been some of my favorites of all time. My paperback copies are tattered & worn. I love them as a 60something adult just as much as I did as a space happy pre-teen. Listen with your kids or grandkids, they'll all love it. If you don't have any handy, listen for yourself. It's easy listening & fun.

Dave Robicheaux returns in another Bayou adventure, this one more gruesome and gut-wrenching than any that have come before. Hurricane Katrina has ravaged New Orleans, leaving the streets and buildings flooded and the city awash with opportunists, looters, and vicious criminals. There is no order, no law. Police are shooting randomly at innocent people, prison guards have abandoned their posts, and bodies float through the streets and hang from trees.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. Lot's of action, a good story, believable characters, a ton of suspense & even a little humor. A great listen.

What other book might you compare The Tin Roof Blowdown to and why?

Similar in style to David Baldacci's Camel Club books

What about Will Patton’s performance did you like?

A very good performance!! Lot's of accents & very believable.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    The drowning of New Orleans.

    Any additional comments?

I sat up till 3:30 in the AM on a work night to listen to the ending of the book because I couldn't shut it off & go to bed!! It's one of those books that you need to listen to when you have lots of time. If you turn it off, you'll make yourself crazy wanting to get back to it.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Crossing Places?

The moment that Ruth realized WHO the real bad guy was. The ending was a bit of a surprise too.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. In fact, I almost did but had to finally give it up & go to bed at 4 in the morning!!!

    Any additional comments?

I liked it. I liked it so much I bookmarked the entire series. It was surprisingly good. Lots of action. Lots of suspense. Nothing unrealistic & everything was quite shockingly believable.

Would you listen to Nothing More to Lose again? Why?

Yes. The series is a fast moving look at the personal lives of fire fighters & cops in a small city. I like the personal development of a few characters in each book & the in depth look at their lives. Nothing is sugar coated & the action is well done. I like a series with familiar characters & like this series because it's slower paced & escapes the desperate shoot-em-up, blast-em-to-hell attitude of some of the books I love. Sometimes you just need a break with nice people even if they're the town's Bad Boy.

    Any additional comments?

    I'll buy the whole series!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Depends. The idea of the book was great. The Orthodox Jews live in a world apart from the modern world & the idea of peeking in was very intriguing. But the book doesn't really develop that look into the closed community. It's all about a woman abandoned by a mother from that world instead.

Could you see Invisible City being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I can see it being made into a two hour special. There's just not enough story to develop it into a series.

    Any additional comments?

Not a bad read, just a rather ordinary read. Good idea but not developed enough & not enough of a look into the Hidden World.

It’s no surprise when he comes under investigation by Captain Eve Woodward from the Office of Fire Prevention and Control. She arrives in Hidden Cove believing he’s guilty, but soon begins to respect, understand and care about this very good man. A second storyline follows hotshot Zach Malvaso as he befriends, then falls in love with Casey Brennan.

Where does On the Line rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Action enough to keep me interested with just a little relevant sex to keep the story real. I like a good story & usually go for the Murder Mystery or Thriller with lots of action & suspense but sometimes I want something slower & more like real life.

What other book might you compare On the Line to and why?

I have to say it, I really do BUT these books are very much like Harlequin Romances in a lot of ways. But, they have a twist as well. Good thing or they would just be another formulaic romance.

What about Jeffrey Kafer’s performance did you like?

    Jeffrey does a good job.

    Any additional comments?

I've enjoyed the series so far. They're like Nevada Barr's Anna Pidgeon series in a way. A little law & order, a little romance, lots of adventure, mystery & intrigue without all the dirty words, guns & gore. A nice break from the ugly world in a lot of ways & a bunch of nice characters to get to know.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. Although I love Murders, Mysteries & Action books, sometimes you just need to take a break & find something homey to listen to. Debbie McComber is one of my goto authors when I'm not feeling good, when I'm wrapped in my jammies & laying on the couch. It's that mug of hot cocoa, the pat on the shoulder & your Mom's homemade soup kind of story that makes you feel good in the end, no matter what.

What did you like best about this story?

It always works out in the end. Your kids can listen with you & you won't be embarrassed. Your Granny can listen & love them. My husband doesn't like violence on tv but he can sit for hours & listen to Debbie's books without a problem. He's always calling for more.

    Any additional comments?

If you like 19 kids & counting, the Little Couple, 7th Heaven and all oldies like the shows on ME TV & Vision, these stories are for you. They tell a good story, there's rarely any violence & it always works out in the end. It may not work out like you thought, but it always works in the end.

    Murder Mystery Misery

What was one of the most memorable moments of So Sure of Death?

I burst out laughing when the Trooper is invaded in his small bunk by two women & a kid. Did I mention the bunk is in a tiny soggy fishing boat that's slowly sinking into the harbour??

    Which scene was your favorite?

The Trooper, who is phobic about airplanes, riding the pontoon of a seaplane & jumping off to capture a murder suspect riding an ATV.

    Any additional comments?

A good story about small town life in the back woods of Alaska with all it's inbred problems & racial misunderstandings. The author doesn't side with either culture but treats them both with dignity, humor & realism.

What did you like best about this story?

It was a great thriller about a national icon. I listen when I work at data entry. One night I kept working until almost 4:30 AM because I couldn't shut the book down & go home . . . . I had to know!! The story had enough action to keep me interested without blowing up the world or killing everyone in town. Another great collaboration by an excellent author & truly splendid narrator.

If you could sum up A Drop of the Hard Stuff in three words, what would they be?

    A Hellova Life

What did you like best about this story?

    It's honesty. It's truthfulness. It's grittiness.

Which character – as performed by Tom Stechschulte – was your favorite?

Our Hero was the best. His struggle for sobriety made the story meaningful. His search for the truth made it worth listening to.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The scene where he comes home to find the bottle on the table. His description of the smell, the taste, the want & the need. I felt it deep in my gut.

    Any additional comments?

I know some people find the constant referral to the 12 Steps, AA & Meetings annoying but this whole story is about getting off the booze & working the Steps. None of it would've happened if the murdered man wasn't working the Steps.
