It is starting to get into the community aspect of the Disease and what people are still capable of. It was touched on before briefly in the first book, but not on this scale. Plus there was more on the world wide effect of the entire issue.
I think I really would like to see what happened to our trio. I saw that he has a 3rd book set to come out soon and I might be inclined to get that.
Prit - his conveys the Ukrainian's determination and spirit.
It was a book I had the opportunity to listen to all in one sitting - which is very rare for me. If I had my way I would do that for all the books I listen to/read.
I like the format change from the first book - this volume shows more than just the main character's out look and it's not written as a journal this time.
Yes - I really liked the route that they went with this book - I would never have guessed the ending
I personally have not read anything that I could really compare it to - maybe Matilda but for adults
I don't really have a favorite scene - I loved the whole thing
When the relationship between the doctor and the little girl changed - and the alpha emerged
I hope that there is a second book because I do want to see what happens to others because of the little girl's closing actions.
I am starting to listen to books more and more - I don't really have time for reading nowadays and this allows me to get my much needed "fix"
The main character - Officer Desdemona Fox - was not relatable at all. There are strong female characters and there are annoying ones. She was annoying. The story was pretty good and the other characters were ok (not much depth) but over all, Fox almost had me putting this book down. I also think that the theory of the parasite has some major flaws but I liked the reasoning of the doctor - that was something that would be fitting.
I have not but he did really well. He definitely put a lot of heart into this performance and I look forward to hearing some of his other work.
Probably some thing like This Is How The World Ends or something about a Death Storm.
Of the Zombie novels that I have read - this one is probably top 20 but not top 15. I like the background leading up to the Doctor's reasoning of creating this strain but there were a lot of flaws and holes in the story that were never really discussed and the main character, Officer Desdemona Fox, was a real annoyance. I am all for strong female leads, but when they are written like that, I would much rather have the male lead than what her character was from the beginning up to the very last page. I will probably not read this again but I would recommend it to others for something to pass the time with.
I have started to like audio books a lot because of great narrators like Nick Podehl. Before I had been a die-hard hard-copy person and didn't have much time for audio books - but have recently changed my mind because of the great performances that I have listened to - like Nick Podehl/.
Yes I would - I know that a lot of this book was filled with the impossible, but some times that is just what I need.
OMG yes - I wish that we had a way to keep a list of our favorite narrators on this site.
**SPOILER** These characters were in so many impossible situations, and got out of most of them, that when my favorite character Prit didn't make it out of his - it hurt. I read these kind of books for the impossible and when your get attached to a character, it hurts to see when they don't make it out of the situation.
The end was a little rushed and I feel that there could have been a lot more done with it - but overall, this trilogy was a good read.
It is in my top 5 now - I just wish that Ron Perlman had been the one to read the rest of the books in this trilogy.
Setrakian - the old professor. I love how they kept doing flash backs of his life and previous encounters.
Everything - absolutely everything. I love his voice, the personality that he gave all the characters, just everything.
Yes it was and I was actually able to listen to a lot of it on a car trip.
Seriously wish that Ron Perlman had been the one to read the other books - listened to the sample and it's just not the same. I am probably just going to buy the hardcopy of the following books to read to myself instead of get the other 2 in audio.
I loved that it showed more than just Joe Ledger. The character development was great and you really got into the story with all the action.
With other military type novels - I usually get really bored because it's not something that interests me. But with this story I couldn't stop listening! There was something new around every chapter.
I have not but I am now going to look at the others because this was by far the best narrator that I have come across yet.
I wouldn't. I think that it's the perfect name.
I cannot say enough about the narrator! He was brilliant with his delivery of every single character and I hope to see him making more in the future!
There were some parts of the book's story line that could have been great but were sorely neglected. There are so many books that have great ideas but when it comes time to deliver, they fall short.
I would recommend the first book and then just give them a summary of this one. There were so many parts of this book that fell short.
Danny - her hardcore nature is definitely portrayed well by this actor. But when she tried to do the Jamaican accent of the wheelchair character, she fell short and it ended up sounding very Irish/English.
Carry a backpack of never-ending supplies.
I can't stress enough that this book fell short. It had such potential, the characters could have been so much more, the scenes could have flowed well and the plot could have been so much more, but it felt like it was hacked apart and put together by a novice serial killer.
Yes because the Narrator gave all the characters their own voice and personality
I actually looked for the second book in this series because it says Book 1 but I didn't see it. I would totally listen if it's by the same narrator.
Personally, in my mind - the characters all have the same voice (mine) and unless I read it out loud - that is all the story is going to get. So to actually hear it from someone else that puts more into it than just reading the page, well that is the whole reason that I love audio books.
I want to listen to all the books in one sitting but unfortunately my life doesn't allow that
I will definitely be looking for more by this narrator!
Depends on the friend - the story was ok, the only reason that I kept listening was the narrator put 100% of his talent into this work.
The most interesting was being able to follow the spread of the disease and how some places coped. The least interesting was the over all story itself.
my favorite scene was when they were going over the world spread of a disease and the obvious research that went into that aspect of the story.
I could but it would be a bad Sci-Fi channel movie with actors that we have never heard of and will never hear of again.
The best part of the story was the narrator - I would definitely like to hear more by him.
Yes because the performance was great and delivery was spot on.
he brought personality to all the characters
when 2 characters were trapped in a store together with a dead mother and toddler
I will be getting the next one!
