When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

Would you try another book from E. L. James and/or Becca Battoe?

No. I really don't understand why this book is so popular. I was so annoyed with the character of Anastasia, I could barely finish this book. I seriously felt like the author took Bella and Edward from Twilight, removed the vampire aspect, and added sex. I could not stand how weak and stupid Anastasia was. Why do the lead female characters in all these popular books today have to be so ridiculous? It's OK for a woman to have a backbone and some self esteem! Anastasia was unbelievably naive.

I could not stand all the emails in this book. While I can see that playful emailing back and forth can be very fun, listening to the narrator repeating all the information in the emails - i.e. sender, date, time, etc. - was beyond annoying. This in itself really made me just want to stop listening to this story. I really only finished the book because once I start a book, I have to finish it.

Would you be willing to try another book from E. L. James? Why or why not?

    No.

Would you be willing to try another one of Becca Battoe’s performances?

No. I did not like Becca's performance on this book. It made this already bad story worse. It really took away from the book for me. I would really have preferred reading this book instead of listening to it.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Anger, disappointment, and annoyance.
