    "New Reader Hurts"

After the enjoyment of the first six stellar books, the transition to the new reader is proving to be quite difficult. Her quirky style distracts from the story. Also, nobody bothered to synchronize pronunciations with the previous books.

  • METAtropolis: Green Space

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 16 mins)
    • By Jay Lake, Elizabeth Bear, Karl Schroeder, and others
    • Narrated By Dion Graham, Robin Miles, Mark Boyett, and others

As METAtropolis: Green Space moves into the 22nd Century, human social evolution is heading in new directions after the Green Crash and the subsequent Green Renaissance. Nearly everyone who cares to participate in the wired world has become part of the "Internet of things", a virtual environment mapped across all aspects of the natural experience. At the same time, the serious back-to-the-land types have embraced a full-on paleo lifestyle, including genetically engineering themselves and their offspring.

Joey says: "The Good and the Bad"

    What a great series!

This last book falls apart on the first story though. The audio production value here is so bad that it remains a debilitating distraction to most of the story. Power through this immediate failure and the series gets back to the usual greatness.

  • The Antidote: Happiness for People Who Can't Stand Positive Thinking

    • UNABRIDGED (6 hrs and 17 mins)
    • By Oliver Burkeman
    • Narrated By Oliver Burkeman

The Antidote is a series of journeys among people who share a single, surprising way of thinking about life. What they have in common is a hunch about human psychology: that it’s our constant effort to eliminate the negative that causes us to feel so anxious, insecure, and unhappy. And that there is an alternative "negative path" to happiness and success that involves embracing the things we spend our lives trying to avoid.

Brett says: "Self help for the real world"
    "Jaw Dropping Depth"

Mr. Burkeman shares a sweeping journey of Epic proportions as he travels through key chains of though, practice, and research.

The sense of speed is breathtaking as he demolishes one cherished fantasy after another while authentically exploring alternatives.

If this is the only book you ever read on the nature of nature, then you picked the right one.

    • Narrated By Lou Diamond Phillips
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Jack Ryan has only just moved back into the Oval Office when he is faced with a new international threat. An aborted coup in the People's Republic of China has left President Wei Zhen Lin with no choice but to agree with the expansionist policies of General Su Ke Quiang. They have declared the South China Sea a protectorate and are planning an invasion of Taiwan. The Ryan administration is determined to thwart China’s ambitions, but the stakes are dangerously high as a new breed of powerful Chinese anti-ship missiles endanger the US Navy's plans to protect the island.

Jean says: "Spies and a counter espionage"

Lou Diamond Phillips delivered an amazing performance, giving each character their own vocal style. A perfect delivery of of a finely crafted Spy Tale.

"This sweeping epic tale will enthrall you!"

What a unique creation. The scale is breathtaking. A Jungian adventure. A gift from the Britt's to US. Thank you Neil for this Mythic tale of God's, Mortal's, and Roadside attractions.

And thank you to the cast and crew for giving this production the attention and care it deserved.

  • Citadel: Troy Rising, Book Two

    • UNABRIDGED (15 hrs and 39 mins)
    • By John Ringo
    • Narrated By Mark Boyett
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Earth has managed to recapture the Sol system from their Horvath conquerors and has begun entering the galactic millieu. But when the Rangora Empire rapidly crushes humanity's only ally, it becomes clear the war is just beginning....

Colin says: "another great story, with new characters"
    "Great Story, but..."

The production values on this recording are beyond bad. Half way through a paragraph the quality of the sound will change so dramatically that it kicks you out of the story and you have to spend extra attention pretending that it's the same character.

    Story: Great
    Audio: Fail

Come on guys, set up a sound room next time.
