What a fantastic book! I actually realized I was holding my breath in certain parts, and haven't been that engaged in a story in a long time. Five stars!

I listened straight through and still want more! One of the best Z / Post apocalyptic books I've ever read (including the first book).

This is a great book. I had a bit of a hard time with the first one only because it was a new spinoff series with Michael Talbot, and one of the issues I had was wanting the book to be another Zombie Fallout novel, so I had to acclimate myself to the new storyline. With this book Tufo really brings you into the new story and as always makes you laugh with his great characters. I love how there's always tidbits from other stories of his that give little clues or insights into previous tales or even foreshadow things to come. I've learned to pay attention because if you blink you'll miss them. Tufo is one of the best authors I've ever read, and of course Sean Runnette is amazing. I'm now hooked on this new series.

First the asteroid would come, slamming into the earth just north of the Montana border, followed by earthquakes, tsunamis, and unending night. And after that... Hell. Astronomer Marty Chittenden is the first to recognize the approaching doom - a discovery that makes him a marked man. Green Beret Jack Forrest knows the catastrophe is inevitable and begins stockpiling an abandoned missile silo with supplies while gathering together a small community of men, women, and children he prays can survive the apocalypse.

Just listen to it for 5 mins and you're hooked! Action, emotion, cannibal post-apocalyptic craziness at its best! The story and how it plays out is absolutely believable and not far-fetched at all which sometimes happens with this genre. The character development is so well done that I felt like I knew all of them. It's hard to believe this is the authors first "solo" book!

Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier. The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly?

I am still in the middle of this book but had to write a review because I was surprised that the current rating was only 2 stars. Knowing this had to be an error I purchased this book and am glad I did. As a devoted Grisham fan I was eagerly awaiting this novel. Reading this story feels like going home for a visit, all the same folks that make life interesting. Add to it the amazing storytelling performance of Michael Beck and it's already one of my new favorites.
