Good story ruined by the narrators boring, toneless voice.
A different narrator
Disappointment with the performance.
It took several attempts to hear this entire book. The narrator kept putting me to sleep.
I loved David Morse's performance, first one of his I've heard. Definitely going to look for more. And Stephen King's story? Well not really my taste but like many fans I would read his grocery list if he published it.
Unusual story, endearing characters that I just wanted to be with. As soon as I finished it, I played it again and was equally as charmed and delighted by the second hearing as the first.
The babies, I wanted to cuddle them too. Actually I loved all the characters even the son and daughter-in-law and especially the 70 year old lady who made me look at my grandma in a very different way.
She was just great. Trying to pronounce those alien words when you are reading them can be frustrating but hearing them doesn't interupt the story flow and Ms Hart does a great job of that. Her voice is soft and a little smokey and not overly dramatic. For this story she was a great pleasure to listen to.
Really extreme for me. Listened twice in a row, the first time non stop and I'm writing this review without being asked to by Audible :) Never done that before.
Ms Elizabeth Moon has written a wonderful book, wish I had discovered it before. Give yourself a great treat and listen to this lovely story that will stay with you for a long time.
I listened to Lucifer's Hammer and One Second After, then Alas Babylon. Very similar stories, all scary, all wonderful stories, all brilliantly performed. In all three people end up becoming cannibals *shudder*. All three scenarios could actually happen, at times the action seems all too real, the things people would have to do to survive are things I never thought about before. Just loved these audios and learnt a lot.
Scary as hell
The suspense builds and builds, takes your breath away at times
Yes. He's got a great voice for the creepy bits
Sure was, and I did.
I have all of Dean Koontz books, now I'm collecting the audios for my Kindle. The audios give you another dimension to the already fabulous story. I live in Australia so not all of his titles are available to me. Please please please make other titles available, especially 'Watchers'.
