Clary Fray just wants her life to go back to normal - but that turns out to be impossible. For one thing, her mother is still in the hospital, in a mysterious coma. For another, she and her brother, Jace, have fallen under a cloud of suspicion now that the Shadowhunter world knows that Valentine is still alive - and that Jace and Clary are his son and daughter.

I listened to the first book in the series a while back and was had no plans to finish the series, even though I LOVED Clare's Clockwork series. But, I recently watched the City of Bones movie and decided to give the series another try. I'm glad I did - the second book was much better. The story line was much more engaging/exciting and the narrator much better as well. Looking forward to book 3.

Drew Evans is handsome and arrogant, he makes multimillion dollar business deals and seduces New York’s most beautiful women with just a smile. So why has he been shuttered in his apartment for seven days, miserable and depressed? He’ll tell you he has the flu. But we all know that’s not really true. Katherine Brooks is brilliant, beautiful and ambitious. When Kate is hired as the new associate at Drew’s father’s investment banking firm, every aspect of the dashing playboy’s life is thrown into a tailspin.

I did not expect the enjoyment I got out of this audiobook. First of all, the narrator (Sebastian York) has an amazingly sexy voice - perfect for the Drew Evans character! Secondly, his sarcastic sense of humor had me ENJOYING my 1+ hour commute to and from work every day - which is an incredible thing to say! Yes, there is some smut, but I would summarize it as roughly 24 chapters of laughter and 4 chapters of smut...the kind you turn down your car radio for to make sure the 'traffic neighbors' can't hear. But, overall a very enjoyable listen.

When 15-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder - much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing, not even a smear of blood, to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

I had listened to the Infernal Devices series first and really enjoyed them; great story, great characters, good writing and good narration. I was really looking forward to listening to the mortal instruments and went into it with high expectations. I hate being overly negative, but must admit that it was painful. The language is incredibly infantile, the narration is painful, to the point of some words being mispronounced and the story line was very, very predictable. I am sad to say good-bye to the world of shadow hunters, but can honestly not continue.

The four dead guards didn’t concern Mitch Rapp as much as the absence of the man they’d been paid to protect. Joe Rickman wasn’t just another foot soldier. For the last eight years Rickman had ran the CIA’s clandestine operations in Afghanistan. It was a murky job that involved working with virtually every disreputable figure in the Islamic Republic. More than a quarter billion dollars in cash had passed through Rickman’s hands during his tenure as the master of black ops and no one with a shred of sense wanted to know the details of how that money had been spent.

Would you listen to The Last Man again? Why?

    Yes - absolutely

Who was your favorite character and why?

It's a tie between Irene Kennedy and Mitch Rapp. Both were fascinating in how they handled stressful situations and the political back-stabbing.

Which character – as performed by George Guidall – was your favorite?

    Same as above.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Gripping from scene 1.

    Any additional comments?

    Would recommend to any friend.
