Unsure if she is looking for Mr. Right, or Mr. Every Other Saturday Night, divorced mother of two, Laurel McKay reluctantly joins THE LOVE CLUB, a popular local dating service. Dressed to kill, she meets bachelor number one at a trendy restaurant. But the date is a bust, literally, when the guy decides Laurel is dessert, and she breaks his nose with her cell phone. It gets even worse when the man is found murdered the next morning, and Laurel has his blood on her clothes.

The story is good, probably quite funny. HOWEVER, the narrator detracts from it with her reading. She gives a full stop at EVERY punctuation mark, both periods and commas, making every phrase sound like a full sentence. In addition, it appears that she doesn't get much of the humor in the book. Laurel's snarky comments and/or thoughts - the way the book is read it's hard to tell which is which - are delivered without the proper inflection so they just aren't as funny as they should be. Actually, most of the dialog and descriptions in the book are delivered without the proper inflection, sounding like she's reading Dr. Seuss to a group of preschoolers. I got the other books out of interest in the storyline, but the reading will be VERY distracting and frustrating.

In 1948, an alien starship crash-landed in the New Mexico desert and brought with it the key to mankind’s future. Code-named the Rho Project, the landing was shrouded in secrecy, and only the highest-ranking US government and military personnel knew it existed. Until now....

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and was so disappointed when it ended I had to get the next book just to see what would happen. I did notice however, that it seemed similar to the TV show Roswell.

I got this book because it was on sale, and ended up buying the entire series. I enjoyed the details of shipboard life and the details of the court martial process. I like the protagonist's sense of fair play and desire to see that people aren't punished beyond what was necessary.

Officer Luz is lucky she still has a job after tasering a male colleague where it counts the most. Sure, he had it coming - which is why the police chief is giving Megan a second chance. The catch? Her new partner can't carry a gun, can't drive a cruiser, and can't recite the Miranda Rights. Because her new partner is a big furry police dog. So that's what the chief meant when he called Megan's partner a real bitch...With Brigit out on the beat, Megan is writing up enough tickets to wallpaper the whole station.

Totally loved this book. I love Megan's feistiness - the first scene says it all! I think most of us can relate to her feelings of loneliness for one reason or another. It's great that she channels those feelings into a determination to succeed in her chosen career - despite her anger issues. Giving Bridgit's point of view added a great touch. I'm definitely looking forward to more from Megan - and we HAVE to find out what happens between Megan and Seth - not to mention Bridgit's and Blast!

This was a very enjoyable book. I love the female protagonist, who is a general contractor. I also love that she's not afraid to use pink tools. I appreciated the characters of Jennifer and Whitney - I've worked with people who never got out of high school no matter how old they were. Bottom line, I really enjoyed the book and hope Kate Carlisle continues this series.

I enjoyed the story, but the narrator detracted from it due to many mispronunciations. I don't know how many times I yelled NUCLEAR NOT NUCULAR and DE-MOS-THE-NES NOT DE-MOS-THENES! It became very annoying.

I was looking for a new series to start and stumbled on this one. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and am looking forward to the next one. Like one of the previous reviewers, I noticed a jump in the action where one second they were doing a deposition and the next second they were in court, but otherwise a great book.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story line and interplay between the characters. However, I found the frequent use of the F word offensive, I know Marines talk like that, but if I wanted to hear it, I'd be a Marine. For this reason, and for this reason ONLY, I won't be listening to any more of the books in this series. It's a shame because, as I said, the story itself is excellent.

Pepe may have soft white fur, big brown eyes, and mucho attitude - but he's no furry fashion fad. Pepe can talk - even if his new owner, Geri Sullivan, seems to be the only person who can understand him. When Geri takes on her first assignment for a quirky investigator named Jimmy G and stumbles over a Seattle millionaire's corpse, Pepe proves to be worth his weight in liver treats.

The book was pretty cute. Not hilarious, like other reviewers said, but cute. Pepe reminded me of my chihuahua, who I had to put down last year at the age of 15, so I guess that's why I don't want to listen to further books in the series just yet.
