Eric Foner gives us the definitive history of Abraham Lincoln and the end of slavery in America. Foner's Lincoln emerges as a leader, one whose greatness lies in his capacity for moral and political growth through real engagement with allies and critics alike. This powerful work will transform our understanding of the nation's greatest president and the issue that mattered most.

    D. Littman says: "great book about slavery and lincoln"

  • The Professional: A Spenser Novel

A knock on Spenser's office door can only mean one thing: a new case. This time the visitor is a local lawyer with an interesting story. Elizabeth Shaw specializes in wills and trusts at the Boston law firm of Shaw & Cartwright, and over the years she's developed a friendship with wives of very wealthy men. However, these rich wives have a mutual secret: they've all had an affair with a man named Gary Eisenhower- and now he's blackmailing them for money.

Mike From Mesa says: "Another wonderful Spencer book"
    "Awful book"

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Every sentence ended or began with "he said", "she said," or "they said." The writing is so juvenile that after a short time I erased the book from my MP3. Has writing been reduced to this junior high nonsense. It was certainly a waste of my money. I would give it a minus 5 stars.
